Last thing I spent money on? I had to pay $44.20 today to get fingerprinted for work. I'm just glad that they are going to reimburse me, because I would not have been happy if I would have had to pay to have that done myself.

Don't know exactly what I did to tick off the Universe in such a major way but man do I have some bad ju-ju going on; last week I had to replace the radiator for my car, this past weekend the refrigerator compressor and my mobile phone and today I've noticed a huge crack in my windshield.

A gallon of milk. Are you the least bit reassured to know that some things never change?

I had to bite the bullet and get a new car; my old one was 10 years of age and had 131,000 miles on it. And in the past month cost a chunk of change needing a new radiator, water pump and windshield. Next in need were brakes. That's when I said "I'm out!"

The past two weeks have been way too many visits for my preference to used car dealerships (okay, one is one too many for me  ) and while I have been coveting a mini cooper for some time now it was not in the budget. So I came home with a 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit hatchback, manual transmission, and all kinds of neat little details like the round "VW" symbol on the trunk being the handle to open it! Can you tell I have never had a VW before?

So, the pleasure of having a reliable car is starting to outweigh the anxiety of taking on monthly payments again. Just a little. :)

Congrats, Jill :D I really like VW but I had to google the name "Rabbit" because in Europe that model is called "Golf". My brother has one

We have a VW Sharan, which has been a great friend up till now. This winter's low low temperatures has done some proper damage to the poor dear though, and I kind of want to get a new car now.

jillbean, I SO understand your situation with your car. Whilst I was off work, I had to dish out nearly $700 on my poor little Ali Acura. She's twenty years old and has nearly 185,000 miles on her. She has no A/C, which makes summertime hellacious, but I just can't take on a car note at this time--nor can I break my 'emotional bond" to her. (Yes, she is a SHE!)

Good luck with your Rabbit. I hope it runs for years and years for you!

A bottle of Baileys and a fake moustache :eyelashes:

I got asked for an ID at the off-license as well! :D Unfortunately I hadn't brought any ID, but I had brought my Mum and Dad, so I argued thus: "I swear I am really old. I've got my Mum with me. She'll tell you!" The woman finally conceded to let my buy the bottle :)

Arrgghh! No willpower! I was watching HSN, and they had their initial showing of a new camera designed by, of all people, Jason Wu. (designed Michelle Obama's Inaugural gown) He's designed a no-brainer camera that does everything without tons of buttons. It has a pop-up USB port, (yay, no cable needed!) plus it's made with leather, with a Jason Wu leather carrying case! Oooh! And the price was right.
Now, the problem is I just got a camera that I haven't even used yet, so now I'm thinking I'll give the one I haven't used yet to Amy and keep the new one for myself. Hmmm... :hrm:
