Gigs all over the world....

Hi

Those with canny eyesight will notice that we have just posted information on a heap of new gigs. The family and I are escaping the Southern Hemisphere winter for a month and visiting a few spots that we've not been in a few years.

First stop Montreal, Canada, for the Just for Laughs Festival. I was only there for one night two years ago so I am really looking forward to that. And have told the wife about the good shopping in Montreal so she is happy.

Next stop, my old home, London (UK). I have a week at the Bloomsbury Theatre (sold out) and one night at Shepherds Bush Empire in the depths on Antipodea, can't wait!

And finally, ten nights in Edinburgh. Last time I was in Edinburgh 238 people saw my show, I am optimistic that a few more might visit me at the Udderbelly (that is the giant inflatable cow in Bristo Square). Edinburgh holds fond memories for me, it was in a dingy flat at the Fringe in 2003 that Flight of the Conchords and I recorded the BBC radio pilot ...and the rest is history.

I am hoping to fit in a quick visit to Nessie before flying home. The weather should be warming up here in Auckland by then.

I saw that blog he posted earlier. If I could, I'd love to go to the Just For Laughs Festival.

This looks interesting! Does anyone know when exactly he'll be in Montreal? And if it's possible to get tickets for that show or something? I live not too far, and I'd love to see him live...

All the gig info is on his MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/rhysdarby

I'm thinking tickets could be purchased through the Just For Laughs site: http://www.hahaha.com/en/festival/10/

Thanks vmh!! I'm definitely going to check this out and see if it's possible for me to go.

Is it wrong that I don't want to go see Rhys perform live, even though he'll be in my own home town?

Now that I think of it, I think I'm put off by Bret and Jemaine's imitation of Rhys' live show during the On Air documentary, with his 50 different car sounds.

:dunno:

No, it's certainly not wrong, SuzyBatt. I totally get that. I just think that I'm acutally not doing anything at that point during the summer, so I might as well take advantage and go see Rhys.

In fact, I've already called up my aunt who lives in Montreal and arranged to stay with her. All I have to do now is buy the tickets!! Very very excited for this :) Interested to see Rhys doing something other than the Murray character for a change.

Nope, not wrong at all. His comedy is very different to the Conchords. If you are unsure I have links to various clips from some recent live stand up gigs he did back in NZ. Posted somewhere, linked to, on the news page. Maybe have a look to give you more of an idea.

I doubt I'll see him when he comes over to the UK. I didn't bother trying to get tix for the London gigs. And have no plans to go to the Fringe this year really. Although I'd like to. So many good acts to see there and I've not been for a few years now :(

Ok, I must be completely blind, because I just went through the whole news page and the 2008 archives and could not find those clips. Am I looking in the right place? And if so, what exactly am I looking for?

Nope they are all there in a recent April update. I found them with a quick CMD F search looking for the word 'Rhys'

Those were pretty funny. I love seeing Rhys do something other than Murray.
Ticket for Just for Laughs has officially been purchased. :D

Uh oh. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but...

Scroll down. As of right now, the second comment from the bottom. I remember reading about Rhys at the Just For Laughs festival but I just read your comment and found it odd that he would be in Montreal the night before the LA show.
