In this case I think he was being a tad facetious by drawing attention to himself and we all know Rhys is the furthest thing from self centered.

It doesn't sound like he's being facetious. I think Murray's fantastic and often steals the scene when onscreen with Bret & Jemaine (but that's only coz he's not nearly as subtle). IMHO he is probably about .5% of what makes the show great, the rest is Bret & Jemaine.

I have to disagree. I love the guys, but Rhys and the rest of the supporting cast deserve a lot of credit. Sure, it's the guys, but it's the combination of people interacting with the guys that gives them the hilarious situations.

ps I kinda thought he was kidding, too. There's some truth to what he said, but I sense he was saying it tongue-in-cheek.

I don't disagree with anything you said about the supporting cast Nancy. I only disagree with Rhys comment that their band meetings are "the key" to show's success.

I'm going to agree with Nancy here. A support cast is always essential to any show but Rhys and the band meetings are among my favorite scenes. Bret and Jemaine are like opposite sides of the same coin, while Murray is the "authority" figure, and provides the exposition to the story. To me, Rhys is like the 3 Concord.

YESSS! I love Murray. :D He's just... amazing... Without him to play off of, Bret and Jemaine wouldn't get to act so awkward and silly. :D

In terms of volume.
(sorry hadda say it - now onto my real point)

In terms of being naive and unaware of how Amirica and Amirican success really is, then yes, he's like the 3rd Conchord.

I had heard somewhere that before they settled on NY they had thought of setting the show in LA and having an American manager. At first I thought that idea was horrendous but it may have been interesting. I'm thinking of Greg Proops as the manager.

When Mr DP goes abroad for work, I always remind him of Murray's excellent advice on how he needs to wear a reflective vest and stick to the back alleys. So far he's survived many places including Moscow and, more scarily, Johannesburg.
Go Murray :prayer:

Oh I thought that advice was exclusive to NYC. Does Mr. DP also bang on cars and say "I'm walkin' heeere."?

I think that may be specific to NY (same as the I love NY cap).
I don't know. I wish Murray would issue a comprehensive guide on how to behave safely abroad.
