Channel 4 UK TV Pilot (Penelope Princess of Pets)

Postby Sherry » Sun Mar 22, 2009 11:46 am

Kristen is filming a pilot for C4 and will be in the UK for 6 weeks soon shooting etc. The break in her tour schedule is when. Plus a gig while here.

Not sure where filming will be taking place, am thinking London and will hopefully try to get more info on when and where for you. Can't promise though.

I've turned up the following on it so far. But then I've not looked too hard

Or you can do your own digging and see if you find anything.

Julian Barratt stars in a new one-off comedy special from the mind of Flight Of The Conchords star Kristen Schaal, at the end of the month for Channel 4.

Schaal has written the show, entitled Penelope Princess Of Pets, with her co-star Kurt Braunohler. In it, she plays the titular role of Penelope – a young lady with the ability to talk to animals. Together with her orphan friend Kyle (Braunohler) and her pet bird Ruby, she travels to England where she was only 3762 hours to save the world from the evil MP Thomas Stone (Barratt).

The show was filmed last year, with Mighty Boosh producer Spencer Millman in charge.

The show features Kristen Schaal (Flight of the Conchords), Kurt Braunohler and The Mighty Boosh’s own Julian Barratt. It will air as part of Channel 4’s Comedy Lab on April 26th.

As soon as we have an exact air-time, and any more details on the show, we’ll post them here for your peeling…

Editors note: thanks to “Star Shaped One” for this news story!

This goes against the previous tweet of the show airing on April 19th. I guess we'll find out sooner or later!

There's also this previously released pic of Julian in Penelope Princess of Pets:

Can't wait! :D

Just a reminder that Penelope Princess of Pets is on tonight (Weds 21st April) at 11.05pm on Channel 4. :)

Metro:

Sharon Lougher - 21st April, 2010
Flight Of The Conchords' Kristen Schaal features in today's TV highlights
Kristen Schaal (Mel from Flight Of The Conchords) stars in Penelope Princess of Pets, a one-off special for Comedy Lab.

Comedy Lab: Penelope Princess of Pets C4, 11.05pm

Offbeat one-off special for Comedy Lab featuring Kristen Schaal (Mel from Flight Of The Conchords), her regular live performing partner Kurt Braunohler and The Mighty Boosh’s Julian Barratt about a female Dr Doolittle who only has 3,762 hours to save the world from the evil MP for Barking & Dagenham. Utterly silly – and featuring puppets.

Fake pigeons dangling from wires, an alcoholic bird and a woman who can talk to animals.

These are the surreal ingredients of the return of C4’s Comedy Lab pilots tonight.

Coincidentally, there’s also a talking dog you could describe as a comedy lab – as in Labrador.

If you’re a fan of BBC4’s Flight Of The Conchords you’ll recognise US comedian Kristen Schaal, who stars as Penelope and wrote this with her pal and co-star Kurt Braunohler.

The Mighty Boosh’s Julian Barratt plays an MP who Penelope has just 3,762 days to assassinate. It’s funny, charming and daffy but will it make a series?

I watched it! It was quite surreal and silly but I enjoyed watching it! Kristen and Kurt are a great duo. Kristen even showcased her singing skills in a different way to how she sang in the FOTC episode. Boosh fans would have noticed that Farnaby was in it as well as Barratt so there was a cool Boosh/Conchords cross-over going on! I hope it does get commissioned into a series because it would be interesting to see how it all develops. :D

And chickenkarma's doll featured in the show! :D I took a couple of screencaps to show her:

Yes, I've seen the web series! It was a bit of while ago so I'll have to watch it again to refresh my memory. I just meant that it'd be great to see how it develops into a full TV series as well. It's up on Channel 4OD here but as far as I know, only UK residents can see it. I hope it gets uploaded for you all to see as well. :)
