Welcome, fleetheicy!

Glad you've joined us. If you haven't already, please take a moment to read through the guidelines Sherry has posted. If you still have questions, feel free to ask.

I've never been to Greece, but I have warm memories of that wonderful place because of my daughter. She was finishing up her semester in London, and her final trip before leaving Europe was to Greece. As she was leaving and headed to the airport, she realized she needed to stop at an ATM to get cash to pay her cab driver. She had him pull over at an ATM. Her card wouldn't work! The cabbie took her to another ATM, reassuring her, saying sometimes they were temperamental. The second one didn't work either. Now she was in danger of missing her flight that was connecting her to her flight home. She was 19, in a foreign country, and she had no cash. The cab driver told her not to worry, and he took her to the airport - for free. Through her tears, she thanked him for his kindness, and then he gave her the equivalent of ten dollars to help her get around. She could not believe what a wonderful person he was. Her only regret was in her haste to make the plane, she forgot to take down his name and address so she could pay him back. We'll always remember Greece as the place where Amy found true kindness, so it holds a special place in my heart.

Hello FTI!

I've never been to Greece either, but would love too...except I think I would burn from the sun there! (says an Australian...)

So enjoy your non-lurkdom and a warm welcome!

Nancy, I've already read the guidelines..I think I got them but if I do anything wrong please feel free to correct me..

I was really glad to read your daughter's story..Happy to hear there are still kind people over here..And a bit surprised to be honest, especially because he was a cab driver..They are not known as the most generous kind

You should all come to Greece someday and we can organize a FOTC gathering the greek way..Don't really know what that means but we'll figure something out..And don't worry about the sun..I will provide enough sunblock for us all.

Welcome, Flee :D

I'm thrilled that more Europeans are de-lurking (nothing against our wonderfull North Americans, but time zone wise it can be a bit lonely at certain times of the day:))

You should seriously check out Uke Corner
