Kickstarter? I was thinking of that. It seems folks haven't gotten their gifties yet.

The prize was a Crazy Horses Gang East Coast t-shirt. :D

Excellent! My friend got it as well! :D

Now we have to wait for the gifts made by Taika between changing nappies.

Nice one, vmh. Glad it worked out in the end. :)

Was lovely to receive an email of Taika's latest Kickstarter update this morning. You can also read it here.
Congrats to Taika. :baby: :babyblanket: :babycrawl:

Boy is finally going to be released in the US and Canada (Region 1) on July 9th. :) I received my Kickstarter rewards not too long before Christmas last year so if North American fans haven't received their rewards yet, maybe he was waiting on the DVD release?

I got my sticker and my patch, and the Boy video. It has next to no extra features (only a trailer and one commentary) and the date on it is 2010, so I think this may have been an advance copy of some sort. STILL! I haven't been able to watch it yet - I'm afraid I will be gutted at the end. But I should "man up", eh?

You HAVE to watch it!! Boy is fantastic!!! The little brother (Rocky) reminds me soooo much of my littlest boy. There is a lot of cultural humor, but you'll still enjoy it :) We had lots of extra features on our version in Australia. That's a bit weird. :(

I finally watched BOY. I was afraid to because I had a lot emotionally invested in it with the Kickstarter and whatnot.

It was pretty damn amazing. I was afraid it was going to be a letdown, but it's one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I really liked Eagle vs Shark, but this is a huge step past that. It reminds me a little of Bill Forsythe (Local Hero) but it's really so particular in place and time that there's no real comparison, which is cool. Like I said, great movie!

Yay, I'm so glad you really enjoyed the film, MM! It has been built up but it definitely deserves all the praise and recognition it's been given and even more. Taika is tremendously talented and it's great to see all the stellar reviews Jemaine & Taika have been getting for What We Do in the Shadows too so I'm sure Taika will be given more opportunities to bring his ideas to life. :D

I was reading the backer comments on the "WWDitS" KS page, & a few have again brought up the problem of apparently still unreceived rewards from the KS campaign for "Boy," linking it with some current unease at how things are going (or not going) with "WWDitS" rewards post-funding.

(Personally, I was intent on helping enable "WWDitS' " wider US release; the rewards were a plus, & the arrival of the material one, given what I know of our postal system, was at risk from the outset. Also...I trust Jemaine, & I find that I'm not worried about rewards now due.)

I wasn't a backer on "Boy," so I'm not privy to all that happened there; but I was thinking, could it still do some good if a(nother) definite, authoritative Creator statement or "reward helper" comment were to be made concerning the (from what I understand) full accomplishment of all artwork prizes on Taika's end, & the latest known status of the DVD/poster/etc., mailings? Some unsatisfied "Boy" backers are taking Taika to task for the delayed rewards, but an update seems to be what they're asking for above all. If he has indeed fulfilled his part & the slack now lies elsewhere, that might be enlightening for people to know. Plus the explanation/clarification wouldn't hurt if he were ever to feel he needed crowdfunding support again.
