Ooh I like that uke nonch! :thumb: And the bonus is you get to play it too. ;) Though I'm sure that thought never entered your mind. :halo: The Kala bass was about $450. Yikes, huh?

Biscuit I've been trying to figure out what your awesome photo reminds me of and I finally figured out it's the Lady of the Lake giving Excalibur to Arthur.

Wow, mock, I haven't thought about the Lady of the Lake since, um, seventh grade, which was, oooh, let's see.... 1962!!!!!

But you're right - now that you mention it, biscuit's photo does conjure up Lady of the Lake memories.

Nonch: Here I am fresh home from the shop with my new baby and you bring back my UAS! That Fender is awesome!!! Video please  (I'll make one too)

And yes, it was bold of me to go swimming with my uke. You'll be happy to learn that my Dad has already reprimanded me

Mock: I was this close to re-naming him Excalibur when I saw the photos

Totally 'strumming my own uke' here but I need to share this:

My BFF loves my S-song (you know, the forbidden one) and she played it to a friend of hers who happens to be a songwriter and guitarist herself (among other things). She loved it too. Now she runs a coffee shop in Amsterdam and I just had a text from my BFF saying that her friend played my song in her coffee shop and that people laughed and really liked it :D I'm just so psyched about that! Dutch stoners dig me, dude  Naw, but seriously, someone played my song in a public place and got a good response. :woohoo:

Coffee shop lady reckons I've got a market.... Too bad I only have the one funny song...

 :supz:

If it were me, I'd be thinking "Woo-hoo! Someone played my song and it got rave reviews!! Hey....why was this lady playing my song to rave reviews? She'd better give credit where credit's due or....well....hm. Refer back to song title." :P ;)

*no rl violence is implied here, only the completely fictional type where I'm obviously KIDDING!

biscuit, that's frozen cool. If you have any other goofy or silly ideas percolating in that clever brain of yours, get them down on paper! :) You are so talented in songwriting and arranging, I'm surprised you don't already have a repertoire! (Or do you?) 8)

Thanks, Laura :)

I do write but it just dawned on me that the four songs I'm the most happy with were all written while I was living in exile in the country.I hope that doesn't mean I'll only be able to write good stuff when I'm not feeling great...

Anyhoop, more tooting of own horn here:

Contrary to what people might think I am very shy about sharing my own material. I feel terribly awkward about playing to my friends and I tend to leave the room if anyone plays my vids on YouTube. I'm a proper neurotic:p

I was asked to bring my uke to a dinner party tonight and I thought I might as well challenge my fears so I agreed. After quite a few beers I managed to play the S song which went down well:) Later they wanted more so I played The Sea.This one guy almost started crying he was so moved. I felt both humbled and happy. It was weird! But I'm just so happy to have conquered a fear that I had to share it with someone:)

Thanks for reading ;)

I case anyone didn't see it on FB, Ukulele Hunt is having a contest for best Ukulele Video of 2010. You can nominate up to 5. Deadline is Feb 7 at midnight Hawaii time. I really liked watching all the recommended videos, and I put in my noms. 8) If you want to add yours, you can do it here. They'll choose the top 10 for the final voting contest next week.

Go WIUO - Short People! :cheer:
