WTFIUO is, even though every member owns and plays the uke, sort of imaginary, in that we never play together. This collab sets out to bring us together for real! Or at least as real as we can be on a Youtube video :D

I've finally cracked the picture-in-picture-with-multiple-audio-tracks-video-thingy that was holding us back!

Since this is the first time I think we should start pretty easy, with the song 'Friends' . Very fitting it is too, us being FOTC fan-girls, after all  The song ideally calls for 4 voices, although more than 4 is not a problem. Less is trickier, but doable:)

So the first Q is: How many of you are interested in joining?

I call dibs on Bret's part  Now we only need a Jem, a Jim and a Murray and we're good to go :cheer:

Here's a link to the lyrics with chords:
Friends lyrics with chords

And it's probably a good idea to use the same tuner
Online tuner

Here is the mp3:) (I sing all the lyrics here, but will make a new one, singing just my own part. The 'bum-bum-bum' at the beginning is just so it'll be easier to know when the singing starts. If you want to 'bum', please do, if not, we'll cut it later.)

Download my mp3 here

Or here

Listen to this (with earphones) while recording your own video, to make sure we're in sync. Only sing your chosen part. If you are unsure who sings what check out the video on youtube or your dvd

When you have recorded your own video, just go ahead and put it on YT and I'll downlaod it from there:)

Ok, let's do this :cheer:

Calling dibs on his part is A OK, as for the man himself, I guess he'll have to answer that one

Also, biscuit - are we doing any particular strumming pattern? I just worked on it for awhile and thought dduud sounded good

Another question - How are we going to do the background voices during the whole thing? Or are we going to drop them? I just know that like Bret's main "bum bum bum" goes through the whole song - even when he's singing. Should we have someone that JUST sings the words and someone that JUST sings the background? Like having a Bret Background person and a Bret Lyrics person? Or should I just record one track with just Jemaine's background singing ("aaahs" and "bum bum bums") and one with just Jemaine singing the lyrics and then you could overdub them somehow? With Murray it's not a big deal because he's just 'ping'ing for the most part - but for Bret and Jemaine they are singing lyrics AND background stuff...

I'm up for either :) But if we do decide to split them, I would like dibs on Jemaine Lyrics :D

ANOTHER P.S. - I have to use another online tuner because that tuner doesn't have for low G ukulele's...I use the one from ukulele hunt... http://ukulelehunt.com/2008/04/10/ukulele-tuning-notes/

I use DDUUD

We'll leave the background vocals for now, I think.

I guess the online tuners are in tune...I hope:)

Ok, Nonch; why don't you take Jim's part until further notice. We may end up with just me, you and Kel, and it that case I think you should do both Jim and Murray

I'll put our tracks together, and if it sounds weak we'll add som 'bum-bums' later:)

biscuit - I just tried to download the mp3 and the link doesn't seem to be working. I just keep getting a "Connection has timed out" notice.

I'm in if you guys want me to be. I'm a newbie and you guys are the founding members so I totally understand if you want it to be the three of you. Plus, I've been lurking more than I've been posting, so you know each other better than you know me.

So, participant or enthusiastic cheerleader, I'm looking forward to it either way.
 GO WTFIUO ! :cheer:

I still can't get this mp3 to download. I keep getting a "problem loading page" sign...could you possibly use megaupload or something, biscuit?
