Is Kevin a teenage uke? Has his voice broken yet?

Hugh the uke is quite mature.

Edit: I'm sorry, I appear to be talking nonsense again

I'm sitting here, genuinely in hysterics at this conversation. Kevin the teenage ukulele. It's not a joke that translates, is it?

Ooooh! Lovely! That looks like a great website, DP!

I've mentioned that I'm asking for a ukulele for Christmas, haven't I? But I don't know what kind to get. I'd like one that isn't a piece of crap, you know, but I don't want a super-posh uke either. If there is such a thing as a posh uke. Not sure that's psychologically possible.

Before I go diving into that website to be lost forever among sound holes and strings, does anyone have any uke-selecting advice? What kinds do you guys have? Would you recommend any particular maker? Also, any books or resources that might come in handy for a beginner? I'm a total neophyte here, so use small words, please.

we got little DP a cheap uke last Christmas (around £28 I think), and it's really good (I had to screw in the pegs tighter, but it's very easy to tune now). I think it's a Vintage one. There are sites on the net you can use to tune it, and also lots of songs transcribed for the uke. We also bought a little manual which was good to get started, I'll look for it tomorrow for you.

I have to say the ukes on the above website are so beautiful, I'd love one in a really nice exotic wood....

Ohhhh............

I'm sighing happily over these ukes, DP. They're lovely.

Look at how sweet this little guy is, with his seal-shaped sound holes:

Or this Kanile'a bad boy:

OMG, I'm so excited.

Edited to add: Oh Christ, am I going to have to go on another wild-goose chase to find out what kind of ukulele Bret plays, too? I fear I am. Pray for me, my friends. I am among the instrument-obsessed.

I adore the Kanile'a one, the wood is so beautiful, the shape is simple, it's stunning

Those seal shapes on the first one are cute!

And I will pray for both sanity and luck in your search to find out what type of uke Bret plays (it's a 6 string one isn't it? that's a start...). You know we're here for support and virtual cake.
