NY based FoTC fans - SPIN magazine would like to talk to you

Postby Sherry » Wed Jan 21, 2009 5:45 pm

David Marchese from SPIN magazine contacted me recently and explained he is doing an article on the Conchords for an upcoming edition. He'd like to talk to fans of the Conchords based in New York preferably, but outside the city is fine also.

He says he would like 'to get a sense of what the band means to it's fans'

I figured there would be a few of you here who might be happy to help him out ;)

Contact David via Spin Magazine and take it from there.

Title your email Conchords and send to

This is the email i got back:

Just to be clear: this is for possible use in the magazine.

I'm curious to know what about the band appeals to you so much. Talk at length! What is it about them, their comedy. Do you like their songs more than the show? What other stuff do you like in terms of comedy and music. What's the craziest Conchords-related thing you've ever done.

Also, what's your real name? What do you do for a living, where exactly do you live and how old are you? Thanks again! The more info the better!

Hmmm... That could be fun and interesting... I'm guess they want NYers for a possible actual interview maybe... If that's the case, maybe the NY group should get together and do it... It could be fun/potentially scarring. lol!!

I was thinking of saying something about the gang that meets up in NYC, and hey, what a great excuse it would be to meet up again for something like this!!
But first to answer the e-mail.... :type:

Only two of you are interested in taking part? :hrm: Or only two who have posted publicly

I was hoping it would appeal to a fair few, even the non NY'ers as David said he was fine with people from elsewhere getting in touch.

David asked if he could send me some Q's also so I'm awaiting them. Hopefully I can have them in time to ponder over the weekend and write something decent in reply.

I have tried several times and several different ways, but I can't get the message to send - I keep getting a message saying the name does not exist. I'm getting frustrated!!! :witsend:

Yes, I've double-checked the address, no luck.

I'll drop an email now.

That's good. No one else seemed to have problems so it was odd it didn't work for you.

Makes my email to him asking about possible email problems look a bit daft now

I would be scared of the article making it seem like I'm a real life Mel. LOL. Not really a fan of Spin Mag either.

I sent him a lengthy email and if anyone's gonna be too Mel-like, it's gonna be me. Who else on this board has stuffed Bret and Jemaine down their husband's throat...sideways to boot!
Bret: Have been sheared.
Jemaine: Have been shorn.
