*dead* That's hilarious.

But, aw, good for them, and for Leno. That makes me sad about Detroit's reaction, but not surprised.

I especially love this wording: "...local boy Jemaine Clement..."

Well local "man" sounds kind of weird don't it? I think local studmuffin would have been a better choice. Or local hot nerd.

Sold out in 90 minutes? Is that meant to be impressive by kiwi standards?

"Local man" does sound more like he got arrested  Ardy has it nailed... "Local booty" was obviously the intention. Sounds like they need a good proofreader down Jemaine's way <waggles eyebrows hopefully>

90 minutes not half bad, since it all <I think> had to be in person!

Now if Bret had been more generous and good looking and had initiated the event, they could have said "local Boom King".

Jeez Bret, let's get with it, step up to the plate, huh? Let Jemaine be your shining example.

I found a couple of stories on the concert on Radio New Zealand. Check out the first two in the list.
No interviews with Conchords but in the second one Jemaine's old teacher reminisces about him as a student. The word 'hot' didn't come up, but I'm guessing that would have been inappropriate.

Hey SA, quit trying to stay OT when we're trying to make it all about the ASS!

Speaking of which (& this probably is better suited to the FOTC in your life thread) I was listening to a cool track by the Grates today with a lyric "shake it like you don't know what you're waiting for" Don't know what that means but it made me think of Jem, obviously. :yawinkle:

It is as it was in person only ticket sales and the box office was extending its opening hours 9am till 6.30pm to cope with expected demand.

Wow. I guess those folks got to go home early, eh?

"Local sweet ass and the other one......the Boom King...."

Thankfully, it's mainly a member of the Detroit City Council and you've probably heard of her: Martha Reeves? Of Martha and the Vandellas fame? Yep, Detroit's former mayor and some city council members have been making Detroit seem even worse of late......(I'm from a Northern suburb, btw!) Believe me, most all of the city's (and suburbs) citizens are grateful and snapped up the tickets.

Really? She's a member of the City Council? I don't know why I'm finding that so shocking. Maybe because I assumed she'd slipped into oblivion years ago. :dunno:

This is tonight people...

All New Zealanders in attendance, five words: camera phones, you tube- PLEASE!!!!

Seeing them at Jem's old school, doing something for the community in likely not a very big setting. Even just a song or two would be awesome. Especially if that song is Jenny.

I was thinking about this today too, in fact I was going to post basically the same thing, so I second everything prettyrobyngirl said! (what else would you expect from a mockingbird)

My joy at the thought of potential youtube goodies from Makoura is only matched by my joy at seeing the LOVELY JEMAINE GIF that I have been DYING to see ever since I saw the On Air doc, right there in Carol's sig. :prayer:  :jc: :supz: :partyman: Hooray!
