Night of the Conchords - Comedy Central

Postby kellysouthpaw » Sat Aug 22, 2009 3:49 am

I thought we should have a thread to discuss the night of the conchords :)

First of all - they cut out BUSINESS TIME from One Night Stand? That REALLY surprised me. That song's so "commercially popular" I thought that'd be the last one they'd cut. Honestly I thought they'd cut Albi.

Secondly - they cut out SNAKE HIPS!?

 Sacrilegious!

Not a big fan of Kristen's special thus far...

jim gaffigan was downright ridiculously hilarious.
did not realize how funny he is...........

the original ONS/FOTC is 39 mins long; tonight's version was
pared down to 30 mins...lots of commericals, etc. guess they
are keeping on schedule to get all these shows in......

i'm not really paying much attention to KS....i'm multitasking.... ;)
...Detroit - City of Tomorrow...

take this sinking boat and point it home..we've still got time...

Same, ardy - I'm trying to get Des to bed and catch up on all the stuff I've missed from being out for my birthday all day...

I was REALLY bummed that they cut out the snake hips bit though, I was out of my seat ready to snake hips with Jemaine but they cut out before it got to that part and I wanted to cry a little :(

I'm sad that I can't watch this with all of you. I don't have a television. Edited or not, I would have loved to see the One Night Stand special. I've only seen clips. I probably won't get to ever see it unless it's available for online streaming somewhere or if they release it on DVD. I was looking forward to Kristen Schaal's stand-up too but from what I've read, apparently it's not that great?

I feel a little bad for saying this but I could do without Jim Gaffigan. I've seen him on CC before and I just don't think he's funny.

I love Jim Gaffigan - he's right up my alley. That's the thing about humor - what works for one, you know won't work for someone else. Humor by nature is just hit and miss. It's a brain chemistry thing.

Love Eugene Mirman's stand up thus far though. Maybe it's because he holds a special place in my heart for being the opening act for the Detroit shows :)

Yeah I like Jim Gaffigan too.. so do my boys and Eugene Mirman is pretty good so far. I did like him in Dallas when he opened for FOTC.

Sorry to hear you don't have a tv right now Vanessa that just sucks. :(

I have a tv but I don't have cable so I can't watch this either. :(

I'm currently sitting at home re-watching S1 (currently New Fans) and practicing my uke

I hate that they cut the Boom dance. :( I knew they would have to edit some parts but I was kinda looking forward to watching that in HD. :( Kristen Schaal was okay and I thought Eugene was pretty damn funny. So far Arj is pretty good and now I'm just waiting to watch Rhys. I've only seen bits of Imagine That on youtube and they were pretty funny, so I'm looking forward to seeing the whole special.

I have a TV but hubby is a huge football fan and tonight is the first games of preseason. I can't deny him that.

vmh - I have ONS on DVD, I could lend it to you. It's only fair since you are lending me Predicament. ;) PM me your address, if you're into it.

I have Rhys's special on DVD but it's Region2, so I've only seen it the one time on my computer. He's great- I'd love to see him live some day.

Arj was ok....some bits funny, some bits a little embarrassing. Loved Eugene and haven't watched Kristen yet. I put it on for a sec while Jake was up and heard her say something about her vagina so....*channel-change!* lol!

Tom's crashed out so we'll watch tomorrow. :)
