I don't think anyone has posted about this yet. :hrm: If I've missed it, mods please delete this thread and point me in the right direction. :)

From FOTC's MySpace:

Hello Bret and Jemaine. I have started a Facebook group calling for you to perform on Sesame Street. I know that Bret has often cited the Muppets as a formative influence, and my children adore your songs. The ones I can play them, anyway. Not Mutha' uckas. Even though, technically it is cleaned up.

Anyway, I you and your fans will help make this happen. If Ricky Gervais can do it, you certainly can.

Cheers.

I joined the group. It could happen - Betty White is hosting SNL!

The Bert and Ernie references are very fitting, but I've got to say that picture is disturbing.

I joined! :D A while back, didn't someone on here have some very good arguments why Jemaine was Bert and Bret was Ernie? :hrm: I can't remember.

Would they sing a song of their own? This could be very interesting.

I remember having a Bert and Ernie discussion with somebody here, but I don't remember who it was. :hrm:

I've joined the group, but wouldn't it make more sense, if you were to match them to the characters "Bret" and "Jemaine", that Jemaine would be Bert because he's ruder and Bret would be the nice quiet spoken Earnie?

Jemaine's face has that Oompa-Loompa color.....kinda weird.

But I think it'd be great if they did Sesame Street. You know they'd have a ball with it. Either that or Yo Gabba Gabba.....

Jemaine also has a more "Bert" shaped hedad.

I want to see that or Gabba Gabba. Hell, the paper said Slug from Atomosphere did Yo Gabba Gabba dance bit when it showed up here live last week.

I'm a little stumped by this Bert & Ernie thing. What is the connection?

They say the Muppets are their main musical influences. And in some interviews they have compared themselves to Bert and Ernie - Jem being Bert, Bret being Ernie.

Do you mean the connections in terms of their relationship vs. (fictional) Bret & Jemaine? Bert and Ernie are also two best friends (although some will argue they are brother, or a couple) who live together, share a room together, and do pretty much everything together. Bert seems to be the slightly older or bossier of the two (Jemaine), while Ernie is more easygoing and innocent (Bret). I think the whole FOTC on Sesame Street campaign came from James Bobin directing a new Muppet movie and B & J's previous references to The Muppets.
