Yeah I haven't come across any recent confirmation of the cast but hopefully he's still attached to it.

According to the Southern Institute of Technology (SIT), Bret is still set to act in the film as posted on Facebook last week (6th October):

Quote:
Did you all see yesterday's Southland Times? Pg3, article "Character, personality land city starring role"... about how Robert & Duncan Sarkies are going to be filming "Two Little Boys" in Southland, described as a "bromantic black comedy" & set to star Bret Mckenzie, (Flight of the Conchords) & Hamish Blake (of Aussie comedy duo Hamish & Andy). Awesome!

As part of the project, SIT students will be offered the opportunity to work as interns on the film. Pre-production is expected to begin next month & filming to start in January.

Source: SIT Facebook page

Hamish is a naturally funny guy and is one half of 'Hamish & Andy'- a very popular Australian comedy duo. He isn't balding with a comb over lol but it would make more sense for Bret to play Nigel and for him to play Deano IMO, although it would be quite different seeing Hamish play such a character since he seems to be a very laid back guy in real life.

After only reading two chapters, and never seeing Hamish's work and only seeing his photo, I agree with your casting thoughts, Venus. Bret seems more likely to play Nigel, and Hamish Deano.

Well hello boys! :waggle: They are adorable. I must google them. I wonder how fast I could become an SIT student intern? :hrm:

LOL, I should do some research to see whether there are any opportunities of a student exchange. ;)

Yeah I'd recommend checking out Hamish and Andy's stuff. They always crack me up and I've enjoyed listening to their radio podcasts both from Australia and whilst they were in the UK and a few TV skits. They just do and talk about silly stuff or just put a funny twist on things. You can see them in action on YouTube too. 8)

Yes, Bret is SO Nigel. I so want this movie to be great!

Speaking of that, I don't remember if I sent my copy to anyone to read. Let me know if I did. I probably lost it somewhere in my house. :?

Didn't somebody win it in a contest? :puzzled:

No, I had one copy that I got for free because of the volcano messing up airmail, and a second I ordered because I hadn't gotten the first. The second was the contest prize.

Last night I watched the Sarkies' film, "Scarfies" (or "Crime 101" as it's known here in America). I really enjoyed it. Riveting storytelling. I could have used a Xanax I was so stressed by the time the movie ended. :nails: It is unpredictable, uncomfortable, dark, intense and funny. I can't WAIT to see Two Little Boys!

Yep he's one of the main characters - a much younger Taika too! (He's billed as Taika Cohen, not Waititi IIRC...)

I just finished reading Two Little Boys. I liked it. :thumb: It doesn't strike me as the type of narrative that would lend itself to film in any way so I'm curious to see how they do that.

You mean the flash backs/memories, the inner monologues flipping back and forth between Nige and Deano or what? It will be interesting to see how they tackle it. There is a lot of action and dialog in the book. I can easily imagine it.

He's a charming ass. I mean his character....Alex, of course. I think it was his first acting gig.

I have "Out of the Blue" next in my queue, a docudrama also directed by Robert Sarkies.

The inner dialogue is how we get to know the characters. I imagine the film will do away with that so we'll have to get to know them in another way and I can't imagine that way being as witty but you never know.
