I have the flyer thing already. I'm just not posting about it anywhere on the site. I did say a few days ago I'd never mention Figwit on the main news page ever again and I am sticking to it :P

Two different people directly and indirectly involved have sent me the flyer. It's like they're taunting me with this video I can't see!

The part which I loved was right at the end, while the credits were rolling, there was like, a montage of all the people interviewed doing the Figwit pout. So great.

My most recent contact with the makers suggests that they hope to have it shown on TV in a few other countries that are airing the HBO series, but that is not set in stone. I would think it would depend a lot on if interest were there for it.

TBH, I can't see demand being great for it as it was made back in 2002 and is as they say 'old news' but you never know. I think had it aired back in the day when interest in LOTR films was at its height and Figwit was still the internet wotsit he was, it may have made more impact, but alas it was only shown at a few film festivals.

Is that the Doco "Frodo is Great, who is that?!" by Stan Alley? Its gonna be screened at the Perth Byte me Fest soon with a Q&A session after (about Weta Digital works not Bret :( )

Dunno if I'm gonna go coz people are encouraged to dress up LotR style & I wouldn't and I'll get the "you're not a TRUE fan" glare. :-p

Check it out here

I would totally dress up for good seats! I wish I could go too. To bad I live in America... :(

Yeah thats the one. I thought that had been screened already. I guess I lost track of time. Ah well if you go hopefully you'll enjoy.

You won't have to suffer me in it anyways  as I asked to be removed from the docu pretty much. Hopefully the makers have complied with that request. They told me they had. A few seconds is all I appear for I am told  Ah well

I was busy and missed that doco i was so sad. : ( I'm hoping they replay it one day.

I heard of figwit before i heard of Bret. I was a big LOTRs fan like every other wellingtonian.

My dad also worked as an extra on LOTRs, except this was in the return of the king and he played an old man in Gondor. and apparently he meet bret a couple of times. because at that time he was being a gondorian knight apparently. and my dad was telling me that he talked to him at one point. and Bret apparently told (although he said he can't remember the convo word for word) that he was in a band (and i just imagine the scene before boom boom... but maybe not ending with bret singing a song about anyone being hot haha) and then went on to tell my dad about the night shots he'd been doing on LOTRs. So my dad asked him if he was doing LOTRS during the day and at night, when did he have time to practice with his band, and when were they doing gigs. and apparently he just shrugged and mumbled something my dad didn’t catch. So my dad told me all this, and then he said. I'm pretty sure it was bret, but i guess it's possible there was another gondorian knight who was in a band. He also said that this person who he is 97% sure was Bret was also one of the most friendly people on set, and after he’d talked to someone. He’d always make a point of waving or saying hello. Which is nice 

needless to say i was extremely jealous. and my dad just laughed at me.

Nice story, not sure if your Dad has the right person though :hrm:

When the overall filming was taking place, Bret only did the Council of Elrond scene as an elf and was the stand in for long distance shots of Legolas (on horseback possibly iirc). Those were the bit parts he had in the films that he told us of. Although he didn't think any of his Legolas shots made it in to the film.

I don't recall Bret doing anything other than a recall for pick up shots for ROTK. He was asked back specifically for the extra shots as PJ wanted to include Figwit somewhere. Hence how he got the shots with Arwen (although she was not there of course, he was talking to thin air).

Bloody hell I still know way too much about this than is good for me

ah that's too bad. I wasn't there so i wouldn't know if it was him or not... :?

My dad just told me this, after seeing flight of the conchords. and he did say he couldn't be sure... but the guy looked like bret. But it's totally possible there is another man who looks kinda like bret, who is in a band, and was a gondorian knight. lol.

I just sent a link to this thread to some friends of mine who were extreme LOTR fans, but not screaming fangirls. Maybe they thudded a few times, but never screamed!

Thanks for all the Figwit background Sherry. I remember all the Figwit Hoopla, and vaguely remembered there was a documentary made, but all of this "inside" stuff is fantastic.

My sending them the link is very self-serving though. They're all bored silly with my FOTC obsession, so this is a way to draw them in.

I've finally been able to see the FIGWIT doco - and all I can say is WONDERUL! (Sherry you were great!).
:D :D :D :D
So much goodness in this doco, all sorts of little known facts, interesting offshoots and flat out funny moments in a semi-serious doco... Bret's dad, 'elf porn!', Jemaine 'reenacting' the decision for FOTC to go to Edinburgh, Bret's original elf audition, Bret sleepily getting the call from his agent and delight at reading about himself on the front page of the paper, Taika pretending to be Frodo, the other actors taking the piss and practising their pout, a glimpse of the Return of the King premiere in Wellington (that was quite a day I can tell you- I was right in the middle of it!), Figwit's dolphin, and especially funny, 'interviewing' the crowds at the Edinburgh festival. Oh and lots of BlackSeeds goodness!
Oh I'm gonna have to go watch it again! YAY :D
