This falls firmly in the category of "what the heck?!" but is well worth a look cos there are just so many people we know involved... what an incestuous little creative industry we have here in NZ!

Quote:
Mr Banks and his crew sail through the Boiling Ocean in pursuit of the most pleasurable plant known to man. An excerpt from a ridiculous movie we will make in the not-too-distant future.

Directed by Duncan Sarkies. Music by Lawrence Arabia. Art by Stephen Templer (did the cover art for all the WIUO EPs) and includes another familiar face too - Nigel! - Who at one point gets half naked and acts like a chicken. (Worth seeing for that alone  )

Thanks for posting the video, Great H! I had seen pics of them on set which was posted on Tumblr a few months ago and I think there's been a mention of this on the Two Little Boys FB page or elsewhere so I've been curious to see what it was like. Haha, Nigel is classic in this! It is pretty strange but I'm intrigued so I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Yeah, it's really like Gilbert and Sullivan if they took a LOT of acid.

It'd be ok for him to do some screaming and panting for me. I might even be ok with filming it. :whitey:

A podcast of Uncle Bertie's Botanarium has now got a crowdsourcing page on PledgeMe.co.nz. Jemaine features in it. :)

^ Hehe, yes!

I've now split posts from the Duncan Sarkies thread and made it into its own thread in the Jemaine section.

A little blurb on Lawrence Arabia's site :) :
Quote:
Uncle Bertie Seeks Your Help
April 16th, 2012

Magnificent folks – you may remember the surfacing of Uncle Bertie last year. This year we’re taking the project into the audio realm with the production of a radio play/podcast which will allow us to tell the entire bizarre and psychedelic saga (of an idle aristocratic plant enthusiast who sets out on an ambitious voyage to the Boiling Ocean – and beyond – to restore the good name of his long lost Uncle Bertie, the disgraced botanist, and destroy pleasure once and for all!) without spending in the region of $150 million.

We’re seeking some startup money to produce Episode One: Cheese Dreams In The Gravy Isles at this webpage which is the New Zealand version of Kickstarter pretty much. Contributions start at NZ$5 and you get things for your money. You’ll be helping me make hopefully the weirdest music I’ve ever made, within (as well as) a absurdist radio play featuring a narcissistic, megalomanical botanist played by Jemaine Clement. So there!

The Pledge Me campaign is going to end real soon. You can pledge here. They're quite close. Really hope they reach their target!

Those prize packages are amazing! :O I wish I was rich and lived in NZ so I could get a line in the radio show! I wish I even could justify spending $90 ($120 NZ) on the art package! I'm sorry to keep shouting... those packages are awesome, though. :prayer: I love that print. I wonder who got the Dinner Party package, lol. :hrm:

Oh I'd LOVE to have a line!
I don't have $600 to spare alas (and if I did I'd probably put it towards the coffee with Bret auction first)
but I've been practising my line just in case... I think I'd go for

'Ow! I love queuing. Ow!'
or
'What a load of claptrap.'

Alas I've lost my credit card :( so I can't pledge anyway right now. I hope my new one arrives before the closing date so I can get me a postcard or something :nails:

 Good choices. :thumb: I also like, 'Even calling it a weed is xenophobic to the extreme.' Or even, 'Ow! Ow! Stop it! Please! Ow!' Because I really think I could show my range of emotion with a line like that... :D
