If it was done in New Zealand, would it be a lamb western then?

Spaghetti western? Lamb western? Get it?

I found this photo online of the Massey Memorial, where the final fight scene of Tongan Ninja is shot. If you look closely, you can see Jemaine walking across. He's really there, but he's not supposed to be there. (jk)

And here's a bit about the memorial's namesake:

William Ferguson Massey, 1856–1925
Bill Massey was born in Limavady in County Londonderry, northern Ireland, and came to New Zealand at the age of 14. He established a farm at Māngere and became the chairman of the Māngere Farmers' Club. He entered Parliament in 1894 and gradually established a role as a spokesman for conservative farming interests. In 1903 he became leader of the opposition and in 1912 the first leader of a Reform government. He led New Zealand through the First World War and remained prime minister until his death in 1925.

Wow, thanks for posting that Gayle.

How neat is that memorial? Breath taking view. WFM sounds like a good guy, too. ;)

looks like a cross between the ruins of the parthenon and stonehenge to me. interesting and a nice view too. nz is such a photogenic country. to think that 'babe', lotr, and tn were all shot there and each was so visually interesting proves that out imo.

Oh, I couldn't agree more. Chron. of Narnia was also shot there, and I thought that is beautiful as well. The country has such...range. (you have got the range, dahling.)

Thanks for posting that, Gayle! It's great to learn something about it and a bit of NZ history.

For those interested:

Here is the official All Blacks site - the team mentioned in Tongan Ninja.

I'm really into this research via the net thing today.

Did you read that Tana Umaga is retiring from the team?
Not that I know anything about the sport, I just know he was in TN.
But isn't that enough to garner a mention in the TN thread? :?
nicole

oops, he already retired..so much for keeping up with the news..
