Ooo, try not to. It doesn't have the same impact if you've already seen it. I wish I hadn't seen the clip on Jimmy Fallon.

I was truly smitten with the J-Dogg by the end of the movie - long hair suits him sooooo well!
Oh, and I loved the movie - even the parts without Jemaine.

I saw the clip on Jimmy Fallon , Deirdre, but all the silliness leading up to it made it kind of fresh for me in a way. It put it in context. But, yes, Venus. Stop watching the clips so you can shriek with laughter whennuh uh, not telling you!

Dinner For Schmucks Gallery Show

For the movie Dinner for Schmucks, Stuck/Axiom asked us to create a gallery show that takes place inside the movie featuring the actor Jemaine Clement. A project so unusual we had to create a making of montage to capture the wonderful strangeness behind the creation of the 12 massive 14 feet high compositions. We worked with the very talented photographer Michael Rodriguez who shot both the props and Jemaine.
Click here to view a more images, a detailed case study, and full credits on the project.

Dinner For Schmucks production design + art for Jemaine Clement's character

"...an insatiable, self-important art star who might be equal parts Julian Schnabel and Russell Brand."
TIMEOUT NEWYORK

"In an inspired touch, Barry finds a natural kinship with an actual artist, played by Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords), a randy, conceited self-portraitist who threatens to steal Julie away from Tim."
GLOBE AND MAIL

"Jemaine Clement (HBO's Flight of the Conchords) is scarily invested in the weirdness of his character, a sex-starved artist whose studio resembles the Garden of Eden by way of Studio 54."
ST. PERTERSBURG TIMES

"Flight of the Conchords' Jemaine Clement bulldozes the film as a preening artist-of-the-moment whom Tim mistakenly believes to be his girlfriend's lover."
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

" Jemaine Clement ("Flight of the Conchords"), waving his perfectly practiced pout like a flag, steals the movie as a self-important artist — a man who talks through his own heavy breathing, like he's entranced by his own allure."
THE SEATTLE TIMES

"A hirsute Clement, coming off like a New Zealand version of Russell Brand, is equally mad as Kieran, a pretentious artist with an animal fetish and an elephantine ego."
CBC

The process behind creating the final images starts at Paramount Studio in LA where we needed to start shooting the taxidermic animal props that would later be combined with images of the actor to create the final compositions. With the finished work being up to 14 feet high, large format cameras had to be used by the talented photographer Michael Rodriguez to create images large enough to hold significant detail on close viewing.

A second trip was later required to shoot the actor Jemaine Clement posing and acting as his character, Kieran Vollard. We would then combine Jemaine's photo shoot with the previously shot props to create the massive self portraits featured in the film.

With all the assets in place, the final compositions would begin to come together. The large and highly entertaining portraits now finished tower over the audience in the film, making Jemaine's character larger than life and adding humorous validation for the artist Kieran Vollard. The amazing Jemaine Clement, photographer Michael Rodiguez, and Struck/Axiom’s producer Andy Smith, all heavily contributed to the success of this very unusual shoot.

Why, hello, little black underpants. :P That was a great video, even the non-Jemaine parts were cool. The final projects are so huge! I wonder what happened to them after the filming. Wouldn't it be funny if Jemaine took them all home and hung them up in his living room?

Thanks Venus! :thumb: The screaming butterfly and Jemaine's eyes on the lion are my favorite funny ones. I hadn't seen those before, nor the one with the rhino horn. *snort*

Some of those reviews were backhanded compliments, at best. :|

Ugh, I'm dying to see this! I'm working from home today, and I'm trying to think if I can sneak to the theatre to catch the matinee. Do you think anyone would notice I wasn't replying to email or phone? :hrm: (ugh, for once that blasted BlackBerry would have come in handy, if only it was working! :bang: )

How many of you would buy one of those portraits? :D They should put them up for sale. They were a bit large though, not sure where you would hang one. Nice work by the real arTEESTS. I admire their use of Jemaine's chest, and they certainly captured his intensity. And I agree with Tim as to what the portraits make me think of...

The one with the lions... :roll2:

If they ever sell them or auction them off, I call dibs on the one with the snakepenis.

Personally my favorite is the one with the baby zebra. He looks so contemplative. Oh, and HOT! :horny:
The antelope one isn't too bad either, it's a nice shot of his chest. I don't remember that one from the movie. :hrm: Maybe I need to go see it again.
