Upcoming Q&A Interview with Guy and Tim Capper (The Pen)

Postby mohumbhai mania » Thu Feb 24, 2011 5:03 am

The Pen is a hilarious animated Claymation online video series featuring the barroom and pastoral antics of two rather quirky sheep, Robert and Sheepy, voiced by Guy Capper (Sheepy) and Jemaine Clement (Robert). We're lucky enough to have the opportunity to submit an e-mail interview to Guy (who also writes, directs and animates the Pen), and Tim Capper (producer of the Pen), and we'd like your questions.

Send your questions to Guy and Tim by posting in this thread, on Facebook, or DMing or mentioning @whatthefolk on Twitter. If you desire a less public vehicle, PM Venus or myself or email whatthefolk@gmail.com.

We'll cull and compile the questions in an email, they'll respond back, and we'll post the answers. I know you'll have plenty of questions, but I must issue this gentle reminder - please do as well as you did with the Raybon Kan interview and keep any FOTC questions relevant but tangential. Focus on the coolness that is the Pen.

Get them to us by March 13 noon US CST and we'll take it from there.

Thanks!

Very cool of them!~ Here are mine:

How is the claymation work done...or rather- who does it? Is it equally shared by Guy and Jemaine (and maybe Tim as well) or does 1 do more than the other(s)?

Do they collaborate on the "scripts" or do they each just send bits of ideas to one another? Kind of hard to improvise with claymation, eh? :)

Love The Pen! Keep em coming! :D

I had a question but as soon as I started typing it 3 others popped into my head! I'm off to find a four sided coin...

I don't think we have a limit on questions...do we?

Here are a few of mine:

-Can you describe the entire process from episode idea to completed video, and how long does it take to produce one from start to finish?

-Where and when did the idea for R&S come from?

-How many Robert and Sheepy prototypes/models are there, and who designed the figures originally?

-Claymation must be tedious and challenging at times...Have you ever gotten frustrated and just smashed one?

-Is there an episode coming that features a penguin...or maybe a turkey? :)

Nope, there's no limit to the number of questions you can ask. The more questions you ask, the more likely it is that a question(s) of yours will be sent to Tim and Guy. ;)

And this is open to everyone so whether you're on the forum, following us on Twitter, a fan on Facebook etc., feel free to send us your questions. :D

Here are my two questions for Guy and Tim Capper:

1. To what extent were you inspired by the work of Nick Park? (Creator of Wallace and Gromit, and Shaun the Sheep)

2. If Robert and Sheepy lived on the same farm as Shaun the Sheep, would they be friends with him?

Thanks! :)

Good questions, Vanessa. I'm a big Nick Park fan, from when he won the Oscar for Creature Comforts, and he spun his bowtie around. :rolls:

Time to put on the thinking cap. :puzzled:

Last chance to send in your questions to Tim & Guy Capper for the Q&A before tomorrow's deadline! Remember the more questions you send in, the more likely it is that your question will be chosen and sent to Tim & Guy. Feel free to post them here, PM me or mohumbhai mania, post on WTF!'s Facebook wall, tweet us or email whatthefolk@gmail.com. :cheer:

Too many crazy things going on to get a question in. But I'm sure there'll be many good things to come from this Q&A. Looking forward to it!
