Its amazing what one finds when trawling stuff for things written about Humourbeasts.

Here is something I found a while ago and never really had any reason to post on the main site. But as some of you are fans of Mr Clement in a rather umm, how shall we say, 'large' way? I thought I should post it here

Taken from the arts council news in NZ back in June 2005

Two experimental animation films were offered funding. Vicky Pope of Pop Film Ltd in Wellington was offered $23,260 to produce The Pen, two short animations by Wellington writers, performers and filmmakers Jemaine Clement and Guy Capper. Described as edgy comedy, The Pen explores the New Zealand male psyche through the musings of a pair of “Kiwi blokish” sheep.

Its pretty cool that this, along with a fair few other things got funding. IIRC the Figwit docu applied for this (or at least something similar) a couple of years back and was given a grant to help finish the making of it. The name Guy Capper has also cropped up in relation to Bret and Jemaine before.

So I was thinkin'...why does Robert get a "people name" and Sheepy have a cute, claymation name? Also, Sheepy always seems to refer to Robert by name in the clips, but you never hear Robert refer to Sheepy by name. I thought it was interesting anyhow... :puzzled:

I also find it funny that Sheepy has a bit of an alcohol abuse problem.

But yes, I don't know why Robert has a people name and Sheepy is 'Sheepy' (not a people name). Wasn't there a dwarf called Sheepy? Oh no.... that was Sleepy. Oops.

The alcohol must help him get all of those creative thoughts flowing. You know you're an alcoholic when you sneak out of your pen to make it to happy hour. :partyman: Ah, the life of a sheep.

New episodes of The Pen to come? From an article about Antony Elworthy:

Quote:
It's a must-see video on YouTube, as is his latest project with Guy Capper and Flight of the Conchords' Jemaine Clement, The Pen.

"It's basically about two sheep in a bar at the end of a day's work, pontificating about various facets of life. They've got a few more episodes of that they need to try to get done in the next couple of months, and I think I'll help them out with that."

Previous episodes of The Pen can be watched here
