What the Folk!

Guys I'm loving this thread thus far coz I was at the RCMH and Berkely shows where these moments happened live before my eyes. Ahhh memories. Yes the RCMH bum photo that wound up in the CD was staged. I can't recall if it was B or J but one of them told us that a photographer was going to come onstage because "we want some photos with you guys" so they encouraged us to get into it. It was great fun and I remember being very aware of the fact that playing RCMH was probably the biggest live achievement in their careers thus far (and they sold out 2 nights!) and how cool it must be for them to commemorate it with these photos. I was particularly impressed by how high Jemaine jumped at one point during the photo session and when Jemaine put a few of the RCMH photos on MySpace I commented on one of them and asked if there was a photo of him jumping and the next day the photo was there (aw, J rocks) too bad the quality isn't better but it's still pretty cool.

I'm really glad I got over my initial prejudice about seeing them in this venue. Being a NYC area person I associate the venue with the Christmas Spectacular and really big acts and I just thought FOTC and RCMH didn't go together. I wanted them to play somewhere more intimate and less grand. But I've got to say I think it was my favorite show I saw last year (though 2nd row in Philly Jemaine's side wasn't bad ) because the vibe from the audience and the guys themselves was so electric and the acoustics in the venue were insane.

I love that photo! They are so rock 'n' roll!! Can you pick yourself out of the crowd, SheWolf? Show us where you were sitting. The crowd really got into it, except for the two ladies in the front left corner of the pic.



Did you give Jemaine those thumb drums, Ami??!?! Did you include a note or an explanation? Did you intend the gift for his obviously talented "band in his pants" or what? What did he say about it? Am I asking too many questions? Heehee, in the first video I thought I could hear little drum noises... ...and I thought maybe Bret was helping the little guys out with some sound effects, but after the second video I now know that the tiny drum set really works!


Jemzilla!! Man, those guys on quick on their feet. I love it.

Did you get it for him?

I was in the 11th row on the Bret side near the center. Can't spot myself in any of the photos though.

If it was your camera, would you have still wanted him to stop? You've got some nice photos there. I nabbed a few. Wow, the omni-lick too? I think we need LauraK's gif right about now.

I was part of a group of fans who gave the drums to Bret as a birthday gift, so I can't take all the credit. Unfortunately were weren't able to give them to Bret in person as he did not come out after the show in SLC. There was no explanation about the drums specifically because they were amongst a bag full of birthday goodies for BRET. We just gave the bag to Jemaine to give to him... which I still wonder to this day if Bret even got it or if he even knew the drums were his.

There was even a birthday card in there for him signed by all of us!!!

We had no idea and never even imagined that we'd see them being used on stage a few days later. It was quite a shock and I still immediately float up to cloud 9 whenever I see the pictures. Even if Bret didn't get them, I'm happy someone enjoyed them.


And yes, they made real drum sounds! Flighty tried and tested!

Jemaine! Give Bret his birthday goodies! What else was in the gift bag? What a great story. I just keep giggling imagining Jemaine munching on some delicious birthday treats saying to Bret in a condescending tone, "Well, you should have gone out to meet the fans. They gave me this whole bag of stuff."

He totally was, nonch. He kept looking right down at me, waiting for me to get the pic.... I was so embarrassed and freaked.....and really wishing Jemaine would come down there and do something like that!

A take-off of last year's sunglasses shirt, as worn by the inimitable Mr. Clement. I like what I can see of the model but he needs more chest hair.

Am I just flustered from Jemaine's omni-porn, or is that an omnichord reflected in the glasses of the second pic?
