In actuality dags are the dirty poo-ey scraggly wool bits on a sheeps butt - but in colloquial language it's something quite different! In NZ slang a dag is someone who is funny - a bit of a jokester, so to be called a dag is quite positive. But in Australia it's pretty much the opposite - it's someone who's a bit of a dickhead/loser, I believe. So if something is daggy, eg, clothes, it usually means it's stupid/unfashionable and/or ugly/embarrassing.
