Bowie lyrics

Postby Sherry » Tue Oct 11, 2005 8:53 pm

I've had these typed out for eons, just been too lazy to upload them anywhere. Until here. You can break it down into Jemaine and Bret parts if you want :P

Kind of cool they named a song after my dog I think :P

Bowie's in space
Bowie's in space
Whatcha doin' out there man?
That's pretty freaky, Bowie.
What's a rock musician doing out in space man?
Isn't it cold, quite cold out there Bowie?
Do you need my jumper Bowie?
Does the space cold do funny things to your nipples, making them all pointy?
Bowie.
Do you use your pointy nipples as telescopic antennae transmitting data back to Earth?
Data back to Earth d-d-do, d-d-do, do do
I bet you do you freaky old bastard you

*Spoken*
Is it lonely out there in space man, or is there life on Mars? Wouldn't that be weird coz you wrote that song, 'Is There Life on Mars'. You could write a follow up tune and call it 'And There Is'

Mmmm, and there is yes there is.
There's heaps of it and it's all freaking out at my new look.
Bowie do you have one really funky sequined space suit, Bowie?
Or do you have several ch-ch-ch-ch- changes?
Space changes
Do they smoke grass out there in space man, or do they smoke Astroturf?

*Spoken*
Receiving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antennae. Do you read me, Lieutenant Bowie?

This is Bowie to Bowie, do you hear me out there man?
This is Bowie back to Bowie I read you loud and clear, man.
Oooh yeah man!
Your signal is weak on my radar screen. How far out are you man?
I'm pretty far out
That's pretty far out man
I'm orbiting Pluto!
Drawn in by its grooveatational (grooveatational) pull
I'm jamming out with the Mick Jaggernauts
And they think it's pretty cool, man.

Are you ok Bowie? What was that sound?
I don't know man, I'll have to turn my ship around.
Oh it's the craziest thing
Yeah, I'm picking it up on my LSD screen.
Oooh, but can you see the stratosphere, ringing?
To the choir of Afronauts singing

Eeniee e ma ma meenie miny moey
Set your phasers on funky
Eeniee ma ma meenie miny moey
Pippew, pipew pipew, pew
Eenie, ma ma meenie minie miny moey
B-b-b-b Bowies in.....

I love this song. So many great lines in it.

Of course, when I hear this line:
Do you need my jumper Bowie?

I think of Bret's stripey jumper.

ive heard this song 100000 times, and i still laugh when they say "does the space-colds, do funny things to your niples, making them all pointy..."
its hilarious, how can you not laugh - they are making fun at bowie's pointy nipples, and how he uses them as an antena, that laugh-out-loud funny!
how can you not laugh, when you hear them saying they are recieving transmissions from his nipple antena.

I love that song. Great, wonderful...awesome. :D My favorite part is
" This is Bowie to Bowie, do you hear me out there man?
This is Bowie back to Bowie I read you loud and clear, man.
Oooh yeah man! "
It just does it for me everytime. I'm at work or home and I have to say Oooh yean man! along with the song. Dorky I know...

It's funny as I've never heard a single Bowie song my entire life (well, never heard Bowie consciously knowing it was Bowie anyway) so I have no idea what all the references are to, and yet I think this is one of their funniest songs. Really great musically too.

What? Never heard Bowie? Oh, you must! I'm a fan anyway, but you really should hear some of his stuff so you can appreciate their song even more. The voice, the music, they do such a great take-off of him!

Go track down some of his early Ziggy Stardust stuff. That should give you a good idea.

Um...nope. No Labyrinth.

I'm quite young and American in that way, I suppose.

I'll get to downloading -- er...I mean purchasing some Bowie to enhance my F of the C experience then.

That'll be an interesting story to tell at parties -- "Oh yes, I love David Bowie! I discovered him through Flight of the Conchords...what? Oh you know, Flight of the Conchords? Those guys?"

I do remember seeing him in Zoolander though. Shame he didn't sing in that movie.

Oh, Labyrinth was hugely popular here in the States, too. That was back when Tom Cruise wasn't so scary.

As for Bowie songs to track down, definitely get Space Oddity, Changes, and Life on Mars. I think those three are a good start to help you appreciate the song a little more specifically. While you're at it, I'd also look for Ziggy Stardust and Ashes to Ashes.

I listened to some Bowie, and you guys were right. Although it's odd, because seeing as I listened to the boys' Bowie first, I ended up listening to Bowie trying to listen for Conchords' references, instead of vice versa.

He's not bad though, Bowie. And Bret certainly has got some of his vocal twists down pat.
