"You May Remember Me From..." - The Simpsons' Glory Days

Remember "Homercles?"
"Lisa, It's Your Birthday?"
Krusty's father being moved at the Sammy Davis, Jr. autobiography?

Reminisce here....

One of my fav eps is The PTA Disbands -

__________________________________________________________

Lisa: I've got some textbooks but without state-approved syllabi and
standardized testing my education can only go so far.
Marge: Honey, maybe you should relax a little.
Lisa: Relax? I can't relax! Nor can I yield, relent, or -- [groans]
Only two synonyms? Oh my God: I'm losing my perspicacity!
[runs off screaming]
Homer: Well, it's always in the last place you look.

_______________________________________________________

Marge: I'm worried about the kids, Homey. Lisa's becoming very
obsessive. This morning I caught her trying to dissect her own
raincoat.
Homer: [scoffs] I know. And this perpetual motion machine she made
today is a joke! It just keeps going faster and faster.
Marge: And Bart isn't doing very well either. He needs boundaries and
structure. There's something about flying a kite at night that's
so unwholesome. [looks out window]
Bart: [creepy voice] Hello, Mother dear.
Marge: [closing the curtains] That's it: we have to get them back to
school.
Homer: I'm with you, Marge. Lisa! Get in here.
[Lisa walks in, chuckling nervously]
In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics!

_________________________________________________________

Jasper: Talking out of turn...that's a paddling. Looking out the
window...that's a paddling. Staring at my sandals...that's a
paddling. Paddling the school canoe...ooh, you better believe
that's a paddling.

This. Thread. Is. AWESOME.

My favorite episode ever:
Treehouse of Horror V: Time and Punishment. Homer tries to fix the toaster and creates a time machine: "stupid bug, you go squish now!"

Best theological scene:
Homer Simpson: Oh, Lord! Why do You mock me?

Marge: Homer, that's not God. That's a waffle Bart stuck to the ceiling.
[Marge pries the waffle off the ceiling with a broomstick.]

Homer Simpson: Lord, I know I shouldn't eat thee, but ... (munch munch munch) ... mmm ... sacrilicious.

"Save me, Jeebus!"

And I will not lie; just as most of my classical music knowledge came from cartoons like Tom and Jerry and Loony Tunes, a large part of my cultural literacy comes from The Simpsons.

Lisa: Dad, what's a Muppet?
Homer: Well, it's not quite a mop, it's not quite a puppet, but man...
[laughs hysterically]
Homer: So to answer your question, I don't know.

Homer: Son, when a woman says nothing's wrong, it means everything's wrong. When a woman says everything's wrong, it means everything's wrong. And when a woman says that something *isn't* funny, you'd better not laugh your ass off!

Great thread, I used to love the Simpsons, rarely watch them now but there's tons of great quotes and memorable characters. Homer was my favorite

Homer:
"I'm going to the backseat of my car with the woman I love and I won't be back for 10 minutes"
"Bed goes up, bed goes down, bed goes up, bed goes down, bed goes up"
"Television- teacher, mother, secret lover"
"Operator! give me the number to 911"
Marge: "Homer the plant called, they said if you don't show up tomorrow don't bother showing up on Monday." Homer: "Woo hoo, four day weekend!"
Oh, it was always "Bowie's bumped into a door..."

The songs were the best. "There'll be no accusations, just friendly crustaceans under the sea..." :D
