I'm glad you guys are enjoying them anyway.

How long is this little film again, and how much screen time does Mr. McKenzie/Mr. Bainbridge get?

Oh, I'm not dissin' your work nonch, it's better that anything I could do!

I think the film only goes for about 20/25 minutes, it's just a little "History of Rotorua" thing.
I can't really remember how much screen-time Bret gets :hrm: He's in a number of scenes though (obviously).

You see him arrive at the bath houses in his carriage, he's out and about doing something (??) when the Maori's warn that something bad is going to happen because of the vision they saw on the lake, and then they're all woken by tremors (and he's running round in his nightie  ) and someone says to him "calm yourself Mr Bainbridge!". But then the tremors are really bad and you see him in the kitchen leading prayers with the maids, and then the house starts falling down around them and he doesn't get out in time.

...from memory. There may have been more to it.
It's all about the music.

Thanks for the details, hel. Ha! Don't worry, I don't have hurt feelings.

BATH houses?!?!?! OK, this fantasy is getting better and better. I'm kinda glad I haven't seen the original because the one in my imagination is getting pretty juicy.

:purple: I think I'm gonna say that to Bret if I ever meet him again. :P

But then the tremors are really bad and you see him in the kitchen leading prayers with the maids, and then the house starts falling down around them and he doesn't get out in time.

Is that what they call it in New Zealand?

A bit late to the party, but I must say that the 1800s suit our dear Bret!

"Calm yourself, Mr Bainbridge..." Wish I knew why that was so funny. I think it might be the combination of that and the nightie.

And I keep looking at nonch's picture, thinking "crushed to death by a fern", and cracking up laughing. Is that wrong?
That's the conclusion that I've come to, but...

Oh yes, I agree that Bret is well suited for period pieces. I can totally see him pulling off the sincere, righteous Nicholas Nickelby. Or either male lead in the hilarious comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest.

Trefusis! Love your new sock puppet avatar!

Aww, thanks, nonch! I am very pleased with my new bedsocks  , and it was thanks to your pic that I remembered to photograph them. Tried the feet-in-the-air approach but went for the puppet in the end. My daughter has named him "Gregory". :puzzled:

Bret in "The Importance Of Being Earnest" is inspired!

We should get a list of fetching costumes suitable period material and send them to his agent. I reckon it's the least we can do to point him in the right direction for his future career.
