Hell yes!! of course I'll be there!! :D
I've already recruited 2 people to come with me (and this is after only finding out today and I'm not at home this week, so once I get home and properly start recruiting I might end up with a whole tribe of friends coming along  ).
My friend Sam has a Wellingtonian housemate, so she "wet her pants" when I texted Sam to let him know it was playing :bounce:

And don't worry, I'll be back here promptly with my opinions. You know me
It's all about the music.

That was a cool video, Great H, thanks. It was a shock to see the folks in their very-80's hair and makeup near the end there, I most likely will watch the new one when it comes out.....I won't be able not to, I don't think!

Jacob won't leave a movie now until the credits are over...seems everyone is adding bonus scenes. :) I love that!

Hel- how exciting!! I wonder if Taika will be there? Or will he still be filming Green Lantern? :hrm: Looking forward to your review.:)

biscuit- isn't it great?? Taika's good...I completely buy him as Alamein and leader of the Crazy Horses and I haven't even seen the movie...he really throws himself into whatever he does, eh?

There'll be seven of us going along to see Boy on the 6th, we bought the tickets this afternoon :supz:
Lucky we did, too, it looked like it was already half sold out!

Oh, and also, more relevant for everyone else, Taika just said this on twitter:
Saturday night action...Staring at computer. Poi E music video almost done. Expect it Tuesday. Incredibly the Boy footage works perfectly
:D
It's all about the music.

Here it is Taika's new version of the Poi E video, cut with deleted scenes from BOY and bits of the Thriller dance from the end credits. :D
It does actually have most of the dance in it, so don't watch if you want to be spoiler free! Oh if you're brave, here are the lyrics and a translation...

Oh, it's so natural to me I've only just realised that some of you might not have the first clue what a Poi is... they're basically soft balls on a string that get swung around in complicated patterns, bounced off the wrists etc. Here's a pic of some in use. They're the original form and precursor of the longer modern Poi some jugglers use.

Back when I was a wee thing in school we used to make these and had to learn to use them (we were useless!). Big fun for a kid though! I'm not sure they teach that stuff in schools anymore :(

:supz:  That was terrific and it just makes me want to see it more! :D

That song is extrememly catchy...I can see how it became a hit. Makes you smile.

Taika's really got some dance skills, loved how the Thriller dance morphed into Maori at the end. I don't know a lot about it, but it looked like what the soccer teams do before a game to intimidate one another! :supz: Very cool!

Love the video. The dancing was a little bit of Thriller and a little bit of the haka.

Taika's fierce look in the Michael Jackson red jacket reminded me of Robert Downey, Jr in Tropic Thunder.

Just saw this tweet:

Sundance Institute and Milagro at Los Luceros present a FREE special screening of Taika Waititi’s Boy, an Official Selection from the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

Saturday, May 22, 2010 at noon
The Lensic Performing Arts Center
211 West San Francisco Street
Santa Fe, NM 87501

Inspired by his Oscar-nominated short, Two Cars, One Night, Taika Waititi offers a charming, funny, and earnest coming-of-age family story where everybody has some coming of age to do—particularly the father (affably played by Waititi himself).

The Saturday matinee screening will be followed by a conversation with writer/director Taika Waititi (Te Whanau-A-Apanui). This screening is a free, open-to-the-public event. Theatre lobby opens at 11:00 a.m. House seating begins at 11:30 a.m.

*edited to add* wow, this is post number 777. Lucky 7's.

Maybe, just maybe, it'll make it's way to at least one of Ireland's film festivals! I am willing to travel to see this film, even if it means England!
