"Electronic Santa" by Bret included on holiday album

Merry Christmas to us! :D

Target® (NYSE:TGT) is helping its guests get into the swing of the holiday season – for free. The retailer has partnered with a variety of musical artists to create “The Christmas Gig,” an exclusive album of original holiday tracks available for free download at Target.com/HolidayAlbum starting Nov. 28. Select tracks from the collection will also be featured in Target’s holiday advertising.

“Music is a wonderful part of the holidays and Target is excited to partner with such a talented roster of artists to create an album that captures the spirit of the season,” said Shawn Gensch, vice president of marketing. “Many of these modern-day Christmas tunes will be featured in Target’s holiday commercials and we hope our guests will enjoy this special gift as they celebrate the holidays.”

Select tracks from “The Christmas Gig” will be available at Target.com/HolidayAlbum for live streaming beginning Nov. 15. The entire soundtrack will be available for free download beginning Nov. 28. Eight of the tracks will be featured in Target’s holiday television advertising, which will begin airing Thanksgiving weekend.

Each of the songs captures a holiday experience as told from the perspective of a contemporary artist. The collection is an eclectic mix of music that includes country, folk, hip-hop, Latin, and pop—from the soulful “Mrs. Claus Ain’t Got Nothin’ on Me” by Little Jackie to the comforting “Tiny Tree Christmas” by Guster to an unforgettable Latin song “Super Mama” by The Pinker Tones.

“A lot of our favorite bands have written great Christmas songs. So when Target asked us to do this project it gave us a good reason to finally write one of our own,” said Rob Barbato, bassist and vocalist of Darker My Love.

Tracks on “The Christmas Gig” album include:
1. “Tiny Tree Christmas” by Guster
2. “Toy Jackpot” by Blackalicious
3. “Snow Is Falling” by Darker My Love
4. “Perfect Gift” by Natalie Hemby
5. “10,000 Watts” by Crystal Antlers
6. “You’ll Never Find My Christmas” by Bishop Allen
7. “Get Down for the Holidays” by Jenny O.
8. “Mrs. Claus Ain’t Got Nothin’ On Me” by Little Jackie
9. “Electronic Santa” by Bret McKenzie
10. “Got Something for You” by Best Coast/Wavves
11. “It’s Christmas” by Coconut Records
12. “Party Hard” by Little Isidore
13. “Super Mama” by The Pinker Tones
14. “Un Regalo Para Mí” by Ceci Bastida

I know I should be excited that Bret has a new track on there but I'm also excited to see some LA locals on there as well. Yay Best Coast, Wavves, and Darker My Love!!! :yay: I'm definitely downloading this.

Joy! Joy! :D So freaking exciting! :woohoo: The link is here but they only have 10 of the tracks up as far as I can see. Unfortunately not Bret's yet. *sigh* :lalala:

I can't wait to hear “Electronic Santa” by Bret McKenzie!!!! :D I wonder what picture they'll use in his little square? :D I can't wait to click on "More about the artist" :D ...and all I want for Christmas is to click on "Shop this Artist" and find a new Bret album. Wouldn't that be cool?

Thanks, Red. That made my month. 8)

Hiya Kipples & Great H

I was listening to the tracks they have available, there are 10 songs available now. Bret's track isn't up yet but the entire album will be available on November 28th, just 10 days away. Cant Wait. Meanwhile I'm listening to the 10 songs that are available and they're pretty good. I'll admit that I've been listening to Christmas tunes for a couple weeks now already. Yep. I love Christmas.

Blazer Force??!?! Wha? Are we sure that's Bret? I like the song. It makes me want to put on a trashy dress, do a couple of shots and hit the dance floor! I approve of rhyming body, naughty and party! :thumb:

I was wondering about Blazer Force too but they do say it's Bret in the video description:

Download this song and other artists for free at http://www.Target.com/HolidayAlbum

You are listening to Bret McKenzie performing his new song, "Electronic Santa" written exclusively for Target's holiday album, The Christmas Gig 2010.

A free gift from Target to you.

The Christmas Gig includes original holiday music from Guster, Blackalicious, Darker My Love, Jenny O., Crystal Antlers, Bishop Allen, Natalie Hemby, Little Jackie, Bret McKenzie, Best Coast and Wavves, Coconut Records, Little Isidore, the Pinker Tones, and Ceci Bastida.

Quite reminiscent of Video Kid! :D

Weird. My YouTube says, "You are listening to Blazer Force performing their new song, "Electronic Santa" written exclusively for Target's holiday album, The Christmas Gig 2010."

Maybe that's a new Bret band? Lord knows he looks fine in a blazer.

And I agree...that song contains a generous helping of Video Kid! :yay: Yes, I'd like some more please!!!! :tonqe:
