But, oh no! I love Willoughby. He is perhaps slightly morally challenged, but he'd be a lot of fun, no doubt.
Have you ladies no sympathy for the tragedy of his story? He was merely enjoying his life, free and unconcerned with appearances. Willoughby didn't mistreat Marianne, so who knows...maybe Brandon's ward tried to trap him.
And alas, just when he finds his true love...faced with losing everything he panics and regretfully chooses the practical route. We are left knowing that he will suffer for his youthful mistake, and pragmatic choice forever.
