What the Folk!

Hi Nonch! I'm not quite ready to post a video just yet, but I am getting closer and closer each day.

I was thinking of taking Lenny to a professional shop, but I fear that their services may be rather costly. I'm taking a shine to the carefully-applied Krylon idea. I'm testing it out as we speak on some glossy plastic scribbled with Sharpie pen. Sure enough, if you spray and spray and spray, the ink runs like crazy. I sprayed another piece of plastic very lightly, and the ink seems to be holding up. I'll give it a bit more time to dry before touching it. I realize that it may not look perfect on my uke, but I'm not planning on selling it for lots of money one day. Besides, he signed it to me, so unless there's another huge Jake S. fan named Rani, it won't mean as much to them.

By the way, I must say, nothing brings a smile to my face quite like playing the uke! Piano never brought me this much joy. (Perhaps it was the years and years of being forced to practice.) The music also been a blessing to other people, I've brought a couple of people to tears by playing for them. Music is my favorite thing in the world, and I was very sad without it. Lenny has given me a piece of my life back, and for that I am SO grateful.

I have no advice, but it seems you're onto something noiw that you've practiced. Good luck! Let us know how it comes out.

I love hearing how much happiness your uke brings you, DaMango. Sounds like the Krylon will work. Good luck with it. I wonder if Amanda figured out some way to preserve her precious uke siggies? *sigh* I hope I get one someday...

I'm so glad to hear how happy you are with your beautiful uke, Mango! That sig is fabulous!! I think you'll be able to clear-coat without goofing up the sig...just take your time and it'll work fine.

I just have to share this. My daughter, Delaney performed the song "Day by Day" Friday and Saturday night in the school play, Godspell. She accompanied herself on ukulele.



I'm so thankful to our ukulele group (and Bret) for all the fun and joy this tiny instrument has brought to our lives.

Thanks! Nah LauraK, we got the dress at Target, though Delaney does know how to crochet and knit. (thanks to grandma)

She had the chords memorized. I think she kept looking at her hands just cuz she was nervous. Hers was the first solo of the play.

When I would pick her up after rehearsals she would roll her eyes and complain how all the kids always wanted to play her ukulele and begged her to teach them chords etc. I told her to be nice and asked her if she taught them anything. She said, "Yes, I taught them Am7."

That's harder than C....

I've neglected my uke so much but once exams are over I'll make sure I pick her back up

rachel! biscuit! It warms my heart to know that all over the world we are still connected in this small way. Nice to hear from you ladies.

Oh, and biscuit...I made a new video. Just a small example of some new stuff I'm learning, but you should take care to moderate...I might get positively obscene if I were to begin to think you weren't keeping an eye on us. (plus I miss you around here)

And I miss you guys too! Though I do lurk I tried watching your vid while I was travelling and my connection was too poor and then I forgot to check it out when I came home. Will have another look tomorrow:) I'm sure you're brilliant!
