Now this seems to be confirmed, I've split some posts from this thread into a new one about Bret's role in The Hobbit here.

Guess who's going to see Figwit on the GIANT screen! Three Tuesday nights in a row, theaters are showing the extended versions of the trilogy with a special introduction to each film by Peter Jackson, direct from the set of The Hobbit. I'm psyched. (This should be good practice for keeping my cool in public when Bret appears on the big screen)

Info here if anyone else is interested. It wasn't going to show in my city, but they continue to add locations.

I've really enjoyed the first two screenings, and I'm quite thrilled to get to see Figwit deliver his big line in the theater on Tuesday! I can't wait! the introductions by Peter Jackson have been really good. I was pleased that he did another completely different chat for The Two Towers.

Only four more days, and best of all Secret Cheri is going to be in town to attend with me!!!



My only complaint? No intermission! TTT was nearly 4 hours long! At times throughout the movie I was pondering what scene Peter Jackson would have stuck Bret into had he actually been available for the second film instead of off in Scotland playing around in the caves. He might have been one of the elves killed off in the brave battle for Helm's Deep! Which would mean that we wouldn't have been able to hear him utter those famous seven words in The Return of the King! So I guess it all worked out for the best.

I seriously can't wait to see what we'll see of him in The Hobbit.

Did you see the films the first time around Nonch? And if so, did you know about Figwit/Bret then?

I used to spend quite a bit of time on theonering forums back then (not that I'm a Tolkein fiend, or even a particularly big fan of LOTR) and I remember going to the cinema with another person from that forum and we both squee'd with delight when Figwit came onscreen for his big moment in ROTK. I also remember that we were, judging by the total non-reaction of everyone else, apparently the only people in the cinema who recognised him. Mind you, I didn't know much about FOTC (so many acronyms!) back then, so I just love how one obsession has led into another. I wonder what 'll be up next... ?

I did see the movies the first time around but I knew nothing of Bret or Figwit at the time. I do recall hearing something about the whole Figwit phenomenon soon after the third movie. But it wasn't until I dove into WTF! after being introduced to FotC many years later that I realized that Bret actually WAS Figwit. So in my case the Conchord obsession led to my elf obsession.

We've had a fairly packed theater both times though not sold out. I didn't hear any reaction to Figgie's brief appearance in the first film. I myself was using all my powers of self control to stifle a squeal and swoon, so perhaps others were in silent rapture along with me. Our audiences have been very good. Resounding applause after PJ's intro's and at the end of the movies; gasps, genuine laughs and stunned silence in all the right places...and no cell phones, heckling or chit chat to disturb even a moment of the experience. Sadly I've read that other audiences around the country have not been so well behaved.

We shall see if the Figwit fans can hold it together for The Return of the King. I do think it would be amazing fun to have a few drinks and watch the movie with some INSANE fans sometime. I would love to cheer, recite lines aloud with the actors, and dress up etc. (I know, I know) I guess I'll save that for my big screen. Anyone want to come to a party at my house? Shots everytime a lyric from FotC's song Frodo is recited!

I forgot to mention that TORn has a cool commercial/promo before the movie as well. It's really touching to see actual footage of Peter Jackson clutching one of his Academy Awards and saying, "Don't shut down The One Ring dot Net just yet...." They also have photos from various meet ups of the forum members...and it made me smile and think of all the good friends I've made here.

Oh my....in a theater now? I'm sure I'd cheer at seeing Figwit, lol! And if I were in a theater full of uber-fans for ROTK I'd cry even worse at the end! When Aragorn sings?? When he sees Arwen?? When he says to Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin- "My friends- you bow to no one," and then everyone bows to them? *swoon, cry* When Frodo says goodbye before leaving for the Grey Havens? *Cry*

Although we do have a good bit of fun at all the false-endings, lol! I do remember people getting up to leave and then having to sit back down- at least 3 times!

I had no idea at the time of Figwit or Bret or FOTC, lol!

I haven't heard or seen anything about these here nonch but that doesn't mean anything. I'll have to have a look-see!
