Might as well mention in here that "Real in Rio" received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.

Sergio Mendes talks about a Rio sequel being likely and his reaction to the Oscar nomination

Also might as well post the song from Rio that was nominated. I have to say that although the rhythm is catchy, but the melody is pedantic - Mi, Re, Re, Do, over and over.
Anyway, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tejf2pvjgM4

I will say congratulations to Rio for the nomination, but I can't wish them any luck in that category.

The Annie Awards are tomorrow night and with Jemaine nominated for Voice Acting in a Feature Production, I did a bit of snooping around to see what's what. The show will be livestreaming from here. Looking at videos of past years on YouTube it seems that the winners are not told ahead of time and that many of the voice actors in the major categories turn up to the show. There is a bit of a red carpet and even an after-party put on by Disney/Pixar. :) I know it's a long way to go for a cheese buffet, but wouldn't we all love to see him! :D

There is a very nice program for the event here. Jemaine's category is near the end...that means it's really important. :geek: Rio is also up for Best Animated Feature, Best Director and Music in a Feature Production.

 I never go out. I have to go out tomorrow night, and I know I won't be home in time to see Jemaine's category.
I shall check here when I get home to see how he did. How exciting to have both guys nominated for prizes this awards season! :D :yay:

I'm watching the Annies. Rio just won an award but they haven't gotten to Jemaine's category yet. *fingers crossed*

So far the show is really lame. A good number of nominees/winners didn't even bother to show up. Patton Oswalt is really trying. The audience is FINALLY responding a little bit but they have been pretty much dead as a doornail. Trying to hang in so that I can see Jemaine win. :worry: :nails: :

Edited to add : Well, Jemaine wins our hearts but not the Annie. It went to Bill Nighy.

That was quite a group of actors nominated in that category. It's so trite to say it was an honor to be nominated, but he has proven his talents and is now up against the big guys. Bill Nighy's a great talent. Congrats to him.
Sorry Jemaine.

Me too. Had everything crossed down here in Nu Zild, but clearly it wasn't enough!
The ceremony was just awful! But the tedium was at least broken by that idiot presenter opening the wrong envelope and announcing the winner of the next (as yet unnamed) category! The silly woman didn't even realise what she'd done until someone told her!

Thanks for the update, 4ever. It was on way too late over here so I couldn't stay up to watch it but it sounds like I didn't miss much. Lol, Great H!

I came in to watch bits and pieces and the end (though it seemed the end would never come) and yeah the show was pretty terrible.

I grabbed this screencap when they announced Jemaine as a nominee. Nigel will be LIVID that he didn't win. He'll probably torture more exotic animals and write a song about it. :P I didn't see any of the other nominated performances, but Jemaine truly was fantastic in Rio and his song is perfect and hilarious.

The tweets streaming along the bottom of the webpage throughout the show were fairly entertaining I must say. Oh and was Bill Nighy actually there? Or was that person they stood silently waiting a ridiculously long time for - simply a random, innocent fellow heading to the bathroom? :roll2: :roll2: Under a spotlight and everything! :rolls: Awk....ward.

What a perfect screencap!
:offtopic: nonch, when I get the dvd of Amy's proposal, I hope you can grab some of the moments in screencaps. There are some priceless faces of both surprise and love that would make the best pictures.
:topic:

I gotta see this movie. :hammer:

Sure, Nancy. :) And yes, you must see Rio. Jemaine will slay you. He's a very bad birdy. I'm sure he'll turn up in the sequel.
