Awww. I'm so flipping proud of Bret-y. Look out, she's getting weepy again! :tears:

Aw, love it! That's right when they handed it back to him. I wondered if we'd see the pics. Thanks, nonch!

Cool! :thumb:

So Jason has confirmed that he won't write or star in the Muppets sequel:
Quote:
“It’s true but it’s totally amicable. My goal was to bring The Muppets back and I did that leaving them in very good hands, my writing partner and James Bobin the director. I did what I set out to do, and now I wanna pursue more human-related projects (laughs).”

Good on Jason. He did such a great job.

I wonder if Bret will be involved in The Muppets again? :hrm:

Well, I hope the writing of the next one doesn't suffer because of Jason's absence. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if he showed up in a cameo, now that he's a true FOM (Friend Of the Muppets). :D

Hey, Bret did what Paul Williams couldn't do - bring the Muppets an Academy Award! (I didn't realize that Bret's was the FIRST Oscar for the Muppet movie enterprise, and the first nomination in over 30 years :hrm: ).
Wouldn't you want him back, at least to supervise? :dunno:

Oh for sure, Disney execs must love Bret right now and I'm sure he'll get approached to work on the new Muppet movie but the ball's in Bret's court right now. He could either continue to do what he does best and work on The Muppets again or decide to end on a high and concentrate on other projects- after all, he's already mentioned that he's been getting exciting offers since winning the Oscar. Either way, it's a great position for Bret to be in so I guess we'll wait until something is officially announced. :)

I noticed this while reading the news the other day and thought it was pretty cool: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/mar/06/the-muppets-tv-return Go Bret!  I imagine things must be rather exciting for him at the moment.

Thanks to all of you for the lovely photos, videos and articles posted in this thread, by the way :D

Oh wow, that would be great. Wasn't the original Muppet show filmed just outside of London? Haha, they'll probably stick to the US this time round but the UK really does have a soft spot for the Muppets! It's great how all the postive reviews and Bret's Oscar win is opening so many doors for The Muppets. Definitely a sign of a job well done by Bret, James, Jason, Nick and the rest of the Muppets team. Thanks for posting the article, wonder. :)

Glad you enjoyed reading through the thread. It's been so much fun following the success of the Muppets from the time it was announced that James was going to be the director. :)

Wow, I just looked at the start of this thread and that was back in January of 2010. :o That was such a long time ago.

Back in December someone on Twitter who attended the NZ premiere of The Muppets introduced by Bret, spoke with him after and he mentioned with a :shhh: that his future included more work with The Muppets. I don't think anything has been announced though. It could be the TV show...it could be the next movie... :dunno: With the announcement that James will be involved in the movie, that would seem the logical place for Bret to go.

It is a bit sad that Jason Segel won't be on the front lines of the next movie, but he's got to feel great about what he's achieved. Over $150 million worldwide last I heard. He really brought the Muppets back to those who love them and to a whole new generation. Not to mention how amazing it must feel to have sung the 2011 Oscar winning song! 8)

Ooh love that 2nd pic, 4ever! :)

That's interesting Bret was talking about working with the Muppets again back in December. I wonder when exactly execs decided on making another movie/TV show?

Congrats to James for being nominated for a 2012 Comedy Award :)

Yeah, it's a great bunch of directors.

Jason talking about his Oscars experience with Ellen
Which WTF-ers were in the audience giving Bret a loud cheer? ;) :supz:
