Bret Judges Air Guitar in LA on 6/26

Postby pbrain » Sun Jun 22, 2008 8:26 am

Lucky LA people...

From Bjorn Turoque

The LA Regional Air Guitar Competition will join the annals of history when we head to the same venue where Lenny Bruce was once arrested, Buffalo Springfield made their live debut, Richard Pryor recorded his first live album, Tom Waits was discovered and Janis Joplin spent her last night partying before her OD.

The best air guitarist in LA will be crowned and then head to SF for the US Finals on August 8, and perhaps, to Finland, for the World Air Guitar Championships, which, coincidentally, yours truly will be hosting.

SPECIAL GUEST JUDGES:

Bret McKenzie - Flight of the Conchords
Greg Proops - Whose Line is it Anyway?
Jeff Davis - Whose Line is it Anyway?

The madness just never ends, does it?

Bret's obviously in a great position to do this, after seeing Jemaine being a 'mean mime guitarist' back in NZ... :)

Yes, lucky LA people indeed. I hope Bret can talk Greg Proops to reprise his role of Josh Dushay from the BBC series. He was fantastic in that bit. It would make a great episode for season 2

Crosses fingers

I love the english language, you have some great insults, so I like to try different ones from time to time... If I say it in English it's not really real to me in a way
*is a nut job herself*

I think I posted on the HBO Second Season Speculation thread that the BBC episode with Whambi and Josh Duchee could easily be an episode on the show, and I think Greg Proops definitely should do it. I want to hear that voice on tv talking about having "congress with me...", as well as all his other bits. They were priceless!

Was anyone going to the competition? It's just getting started, I think. Love to hear from you after it's over.
I think there was a suggestion for the second season that Jemaine should enter an air guitar contest to make money. What a hoot if he showed up!

Oh my goodness! Found a video of Bret rocking and stage diving at the US Air guitar championships. :supz: He's in the middle sporting a Batman tee.

I think their blog will post pics later today.

Thanks for posting the YouTube link HBThingy

And they played Freebird, how appropriate

Brets looks like he's having a great time. Love the stage dive, I wonder, hmmmm, if they actually caught him?

HA :roll2: Bret would be the only guy on stage playing the rhythm part and not lead guitar!
