... or how I learned to stop worrying and love code.

Per Nancy's suggestion, here's a spot to ask all your computer-related questions, such as how to find the actual browser cache info on Firefox in order to save the Amoeba concert file, because I seem to be missing it. All I can find is how to clear my cache, but not actually see the individual files. Although I do have a separate program, which will probably solve all of my problems, including then converting it into whatever format I want.

So yeah. Emoticon shortcuts, repairing AOL screw ups, screencap instructions ... put it all here. Try to keep it short and sweet so this can be a good reference thread that people don't have to weed through too much to find useful info.

If you want to take it in a more general how-to direction (not just computers), I'll leave that up to you to decide. Although as mod I already vote no if you want to take it in a direction of how to stalk/find filming locations. Keep it nerdy/geeky, but clean!

Thanks, Indy.
Okay, I'll start, since I'm so technically challenged. The other day I saw a post that had multiple links in it. How do you do that? I know for one link I copy and then paste when I'm writing the post, but how do you copy more than one and not lose it? If I copy more than one link, the first one disappears, and only the most recent shows up when I go to paste it.

That's why you need tabbed browsing! To post multiple links, you'll have to go back and forth between your post here and the links you want. With tabbed browsing, you can have multiple pages open at one time and easily click between them. That, or keep the Notepad program open and copy and paste the links as you go. IE does offer tabbed browsing if that's the browser you're currently using and you want to stick with it. You'll just need the newer version if your current version is before IE7.

Or with AOL, you'll paste the first link in the posting box then minimize the internet window (not AOL). Then you can find the new internet address, copy it, and then bring up the WTF page with the posting box still open. Paste and repeat as needed. :)

Thanks for the advice, everybody. I think one of my problems was keeping the posting box open, so if and when I have more than one link, it's nice to know there are a few options to try.

Could whoever posted the avatar information please re-post it? I should have printed it out, but I put it off, and now it's among the missing. :?

Hi again guys - could someone tell me how to access my browser's cache to save the Amoeba concert file? (I'm using Firefox on a Mac if that makes any difference.) Thanks a bunch! :)

Oh, and boo to the eaten posts.

If i understand your question correctly click "Tools" in Firefox than "Downloads". You can see your download history in there.

I know you'll all go, "You're kidding - you don't know how?", but officially - how do you post a picture?
I know there used to be instructions a long time ago dealing with Imageshack, but I'm still the most technically challenged forum member, and still at sea, and I can't find the old post. :sign_help:

1st you need to host your image some where.

I use photobucket.

http://register.photobucket.com/

Once you get around to hosting a file (image) it will provide links.

Like this:

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112 ... emaine.jpg

Wrap that around [img*]the file[/img]
No astrick there. Need to add it to show you.

And you get Image

tada!

If you use Photobucket, one of the links they give you for a picture will actually have the IMG code already around it. All you have to do is copy that line and paste it into your post.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'll probably have more questions once I open my account, but you've helped the technologically challenged among us immensely. :thanks:
