Newtown Salad

I found these clips of the guys from 2000 ish. One of their first, if not their first, televised performances. It's really cute - they look so young, and you can tell they're just starting out

Anyway, it's from a show from Wellington (no longer on the air) called "Newtown Salad"

Thanks for posting these!

I've seen a few of these before except for Bowie's In Space. And I haven't watched them together as a complete set. They both look so skinny! Bret seemed to exaggerate the lyrics and his facial expressions a bit more back then. I know we all enjoy watching the old videos but I wonder if they ever look back on it and think, "Why, god..why???"

Yeah these are all on here somewhere. Jemaine looks way skinny. Bret looks 11.

I tried to look to see if they were posted - maybe I didn't look back far enough? Jem looks much more awkward in front of the camera.

I'd seen them before, but can't remember whether it was on here or from other internet stalking. But thanks for the reminder about them just now - it's great to see them and contrast with the clips from the current tour :shock:

Pretty radically different... but those are still the same guys, all right.

Thanks, Kelly! I'd only seen the Bowie one before-so this was a treat, indeed.
My but hasn't their stage presence improved!

Oh wow

those videos are amazing! so young! so skinny! :lol:

I actually find them really hard to watch though. I feel like a mum watching their kid perform in front of people for the first time :oops:

I'd seen them all except Hotties, can't remember where. Thanks for the links, Kelly! These are neat to see......Bret went to town on that kazoo!

Jemaine looks the same, just bit more filled-out and those glasses did him no justice at the time. And in Petrov, he sounds like Dracula- I love it!

Bret? Aw, he has such a baby face! He needs the facial hair, imo. But when he's 70 he'll probably only look 40.

I really love how Jemaine just broke out in a grin during funny bits... :lol:

It's harder to catch that now, he's far too good at keeping a straight face.

That's funny Carol- I just had my husband in here to watch Bowie and show him how young they are here, and we both noticed how much more smiley he was then.
