Thanks for the Scapegoat Wax link, mohambai! A friend of mine made an "Alison" mix for me a few years ago and included that song on there, but I'd never seen the video.

I also have a fondness for the Police's "Don't Stand So Close To Me" video. I had a kind of cute student when I was teaching at a community college and it was funny how often I would hear that song on the radio going to or from campus (despite the song being a decade old or more by that point).

Those Police vids are great!

Aw, nice, indigo, how that worked out!

Here's the amazing Scala Choir directed by the Kolacny Brothers. They have some vids with good production values, but I like the live stuff. They cover everything from Rammstein to Depeche Mode, and their new disc is all very good originals, which I think you can still get for free from www.scalachoir.com

Your Jemaine forcast reminded me of Tom Waits' song Emotional Weather, and as I'm a big fan of Tom Waits, I couldn't resist.

As for favorite low-budget videos, I like one by a Dutch singer. Kus Me Dan En Bijt Mijn Tong Af by Spinvis.

A (I presume) low budget "behind the scenes" type video from my favourite band :)

This one seems pretty budgeted to me, but Billy's performance more than makes up for that ;) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxNOCl7S7lU

that's one of my favorite songs of his. And he's a good showman. But, yeah, really high production values there.

A very cheap video by a popular rock band.

I'm posting this for purely selfish reasons. I used to love this band to bits and I still have a big soft spot for them, and their recent decision to do a reunion tour actually seems like a rather decent (instead of desperate) thing to do. Everybody agrees they're infinitely better onstage than on record; I never got to see them play before they broke up a decade ago; now they're gonna come and play my little country this summer. It's just that being abroad and out of touch I didn't hear about the whole damn thing until now, when it's too late and the tickets have all gone! Why oh why I let his happen?!?! :bang:

At least there's this little video silly enough to make me feel slightly less devastated: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTKcgfBELPU

EDIT: Oh, and it's got a keytar on it.
Per diem means 'for the day', though... Per weekem would be the correct term.

This link is for The Phoenix Foundations song, "40 Years" video. The director of Eagle v Shark; Taika Waititi , is just jogging along, lip syncing and performing major feats all with one take, he is in incredible shape...but pretty cheap video I am sure, lots of freebie extras playing the people.

Just very fun!

This brings the thread around full circle - we started it because we were admiring 40 years, and riffing off Bret talking about how most music videos are just too expensive. So ... cool!

And that is a great vid - Taika directing and the lead actor, whew!

A few friends of mine are in this one. It's just a fun, catchy song and everyone looked like they had fun participating in the video. Johnny is the guy in the purple plaid shirt. My friends, Shane and Christopher, are the ones in the white shirt and black leather jacket. It was filmed in the director's backyard.

Fun stuff!

This is more introspective stuff from the talented Theo Angell, who also directed it. It's all found stuff in an apartment he was renting.

While they were an awesome band, the Pixies were not really into videos. They knew it, and I think are making fun of that fact in most of their videos:
