I like the phrase "magnetic awkwardness" the reporter used. A touch of originality in an otherwise run-of-the-mill article.

"In an interview with CNN, McKenzie said the series is about 17 to 18 percent improvised and based on things that happened in their lives. He jokingly added that the series came from a brainstorm off what would happen if Ernie and Bert of "Sesame Street" started a band"

That is hilarious! I don't remember seeing this CNN interview--can anyone provide a link? The stripey shirt, the innocence, there are some similarities. I suppose Bret's Ernie and Jemaine's Bert--the pigeon dance IS a bit like the moves they do in the "Mugged" episode!

Thanks for the link, Dagmar :D

That was a really nice one. I loved how Bret made fun of the Aussies and then laughed at his own joke :lol:

It's increasingly evident how much Jem hates the limelight though :| I feel like quitting being a a fan just to be nice :P

Thanks for the link. I had not seen that interview before. So, what do you think?

Jemaine = Bert?
Bret = Ernie?

You know with those references how can anyone not love these guys? One of the things that really made me start liking Bret was during the HBO "out of character" interview, when he said one of his favorite shows as a kid was the muppets, which, of course, was one of my favorite shows as a kid. So, I knew right away, I like this guy's personality.

It is obvious that Jemaine does not like fame. I'm guessing he enjoys the attention on stage, but probably wishes he could just turn everything off afterwards. It does make me feel a little bit guilty being a fan, but I suppose it is a catch 22, without fans it's impossible for an entertainer to be successful. In any case, I hope most fans will honor his wishes and be respectful.

Wow! I hadn't seen that before either, thanks :clap: I watched it thrice in a row. Best interview I've seen. They seemed really relaxed. What great quips:

interviewer: "In the show, you're obviously hopeless with women. What about in real life?", .
Bret: "Hopeful" (what perfect timing)

Interviewer: "How do you know when you've reached that perfect balance between comedic lyrics and a memorable tune?

Jemaine: "Its easy; we know a tune is memborable when we remember it" :lol:

interviewer: "Would you rather be known as a rock band?
It is abundantly clear Jemaine is not thinking fame is all that "lovely"
Jemaine mumbles: "I'd rather not be known (nervous giggle) I'm not sure"

Thanks for the link--helped me smile at the end of an exhausting day :D

Hey, another observation about that CNN interview--the power of Jemaine. :prayer:

When she asks about them making fun of Aussies and then Jemaine tells her their resentment was unleashed all at once back at them, she says "thank you" not sarcastically it seems, but actually thankful--Jemaine can insult you so sixy-ly you feel you're the most beautiful girl in the room, apparently! A trait that will serve him well in his marriage

ok, this time I'm logging off to get some work done!! (must get off computer--its sucking my brain out, I think) :rolleyes:
