What the Folk!

Okay, let me start by saying, this isn't saying they're DOING it, or that any of these should be taken that seriously (though, Mr. Bobin, Bret or Jemaine - if you are reading this, my idea juices are yours to thief ) - but after S2 ended - which, if you haven't seen how it ends yet, I'd suggest you stop reading this thread now - as some of these ideas will probably give you major hints about how things in s2 ends.

So my major idea that I've had since seeing the s2 ending was that at some point (though I thought it'd also be funny if there was an episode or maybe a few set back in NZ and we find out that Bret and/or Jemaine have like...WIVES or something...that'd be hilarious to me anyway), is that they try to get back across the border. I can see Bret with his little piano and guitar, Jemaine with his guitar on his back, Murray in a sombrero (though, as a diplomat for NZ he shouldn't be banished like Bret and Jemaine probably are - he's just there to help the guys out). Just how awkward and hilarious would it be seeing the three of them (Bret in his red penguin outfit, Jemaine in his denim Texas Tuxedo, Murray in his green on green ensemble) running with a large group of Mexicans to get across the border. Also - maybe a security guy on the border could catch them once and then after hearing the guys talk be like, "That doesn't sound like a Mexican accent" and Bret/Jemaine/Murray could say, "We're from the US" or something and have the guy say, "Whereabouts in the US do they talk like THAT!?" and they could say, "North Dakota" or something like that

On the way to work I was thinking about the border running idea some more and came up with all sorts of hilarious one liners and whatnot...also - they could fit Stana into the series by having them meet some weird creepy Texan dude with a big ol hat who sits them down to tell them about this bad man, Stana, who some people think is only a myth, but he's sure he exists because he was molested by Stana once or something like that *shrug*

Maybe all of, or a significant part of s3 could be the guys as they hitchhike rides back across the us from Texas trying to get back to NYC. And all the interesting characters they hitch rides from/come into contact with. That would also give them (hopefully) lots of idea fodder for songs...

I have all sorts of ideas for s3...hear that Bret and Jemaine? I HAVE ALL SORTS OF IDEAS

Let me just finish by saying that I just want the guys to do what they want to do, this isn't me advocating for a s3, this is just me throwing out some ideas I have for it IF IF IF they decided to go through with it...feel free to add ideas here

These idea are all hilarious!! I would KILL to somehow see Stana in an episode, that'd be great.

And Murray in a sombrero would make the entire season worthwhile, even if nothing else ended up being good (which obviously would NEVER happen, these guys are too talented), seeing Murray smiling akwardly in a giant sombrero would just seal the deal.

MURRAY WOULD HAVE TO ALSO HAVE A PIECE OF HAY COMING OUT OF HIS MOUTH WHILE WEARING THE SOMBRERO!

Imagine how hilarious it'd be too if Murray called a band meeting once in Texas to make sure they were all accounted for after the big run over the border, and they were all putting on southern accents to fit in better

I'd love to see Murray trying to converse with locals in elementary Spanish (with his NZ accent). Hola! Como estas, amigos. And the locals will just give him blank stares and kind of ignore him. Maybe they could throw a mariachi song in there. Fitting Stana in once they reach Texas would be perfect! If Dave helps smuggle them in, there really should be a scene where he has to deal with border patrol. I don't have any specific ideas for this but it would be hilarious!

OH MAN! I love the mariachi idea! The guys could be wearing mariachi outfits during the "video" and everything! THE JEMAINE PORN STACHE COULD MAKE AN APPEARANCE FOR THE VIDEO AS WELL!

This is actually coming together as a hilarious episode!

The mariachi thing would be classic!! Maybe Murray could try to convince the guys to play a gig while they're there, and of course there would be protest at first, but somehow they'll end up doing it and it'll just cut to the next scene and you just see B and J in these ridiculous mariachi outfits and Jemaine saying "Do we have to wear this?" and Murray saying "Of course you do Jemaine, this is the traditional mariachi band outfit! All of the best mariachi bands are doing it!" And of course Murray would still be wearing the sombrero. Still my favourite of all of the ideas

However they end up getting back, there's definitely one thing I'd like to see in a potential season 3: Nigel as a guest star.

And I've always been curious as to how Bret & Jemaine met Mel, Dave, and Murray.

This'll be unpopular but if it does come back....I'd want it set in NZ. We all know what happened and so they're home again, happily shepherding. But since NZ is safer than NY, Murray will allow night gigs so that they can also perform. Perhaps we'll have a New Zealand counterpart for Mel...hehe. Halfway thru the season, Mel and Doug show up and the Conchords' 2 fans can fight over them.

Perhaps they'll play touristy spots and wind up- again- only playing to Americans who've come to NZ on vacation.....their countrymen won't be very supportive so since they're not doing well, they decide to do some gigs in Australia.....where Sally and her husband have moved.

Well, I don't have any storyline ideas but Hotties has got to be put in somewhere.

Jenny is too much of a comedy skit and not enough of a song, but Hotties is perfect. Maybe a stopover in Cuba on the way back to America/Mexico? I dunno

That would be great if Nigel somehow managed to show up. And yes, I think there should be at least on episode in NZ and Hotties should definitely be a part of it

Murray should arrange for a gig in Cuba (he's heard that canoing from Cuba is the best way to sneak back into the US)..just to discover that it was actually Cuba..street, Wellington, NZ.. the add was referring to..for the New Zealand Music Month.
..and then maybe have the guys play Hotties..

I was watching the Eurovision song contest yesterday, so of course I started to think what a Conchords entry for that freak circus would look like. (It doesn't matter New Zealand is not in Europe - e.g. this year Azerbaijan recruited an Iranian guy.)

Or maybe in the series Oceania would organize a similar contest, with Conchords representing their native country. Perhaps with some "ethnic" overtones, cfr. I'm sure New Zealand has some fine dance traditions too, and I'd love to see the guys pulling off some cool moves!

My thoughts drifted to FotC during the ESC as well, but it was during France's entry. I thought to myself, Foux de Fa Fa would be so much better.

I was disappointed by Patricia's performance as well, especially since I really liked her around the time Je te dis vous came out. Sebastien Tellier did a better job last year; the bearded ladies singing back-ups were a nice touch.
