I was prepping a mango for my daughter this evening and as I held the knife in my hand, ready to cut into that ripe fruit, I thought of Jemicado (which is a brilliant name, by the way). I couldn't even for a second figure out how one could turn a fruit into a face. Well done! :supz:

Agreed! Mockingbird = Getting Lewd With The Food genius. I'm still waiting on that sculpture of Jemaine made entirely out of Spam.

I'm tempted to make funny face pancakes...FOTC style!

Those are amazing! I especially love that you made Jem's hair, lips and glasses from the avocado skin. Brilliant! :thumb:

OK, people.... start getting freaky with that food! I don't want to be the only one on this thread, here. I'm gonna post some more stuff here in a minute to inspire y'all. ;) I wanna see some Food of the Conchords! *groan*

OK, so, I wasn't going to post these because, well two reasons. One is because some of them are downright lame. The other is because I didn't want you all to know just how far gone I really am, lol. But, I am throwing caution to the wind in the interest of inspiring you to look at that ham sandwich you're eating in a whole new light, lol. I really want to see your freaky food creations. So here we go.

Image
This is my first foray into the world of freaky food, the first step on the slippery slope. ;) Why does Bret have a goatee, you ask? I wonder the same thing, lol. I ask you all to notice a certain, er, phallic arrangement of the kiwis and banana. The funny thing is I noticed this pitfall early on and tried really hard to avoid this composition, but apparently my subconscious mind took over and well, there it is. Banana balls!

Image
This is the only pic I could find of what was supposed to be pancakes (vmh!) - the finished picture had pancakes and and sliced kiwi on the plate, along with a cup of coffee and a pitcher of maple syrup, etc. It didn't work great because as you can see, the faces are too dark to be convincing as maple syrup. They look more like chocolate sauce. That's because real maple syrup is too runny to draw with (a word to the wise to all you aspiring foodies out there) so after much experimentation I ended up using molasses, in hopes I could lighten it up in photoshop, which alas I could not, at least not realistically.

Hmm, I couldn't write anything else on that post. Weird. Anyway, what I was going to say is that I thought I might photoshop in a piece of german chocolate cake or something and make it a dessert thing, but I never did. If anyone wants to have a go at putting things on the plate, feel free. :)

Image
So, the botched attempts at Flight of the Pancakes led to the creation of Mel's Diner, there. Do you guys think I have a problem? ;)

Image
And let's not forget my husband's tribute to the ultimate fate of all food art... Flight of the Compost. They have returned to the earth to nourish future generations of veggie Brets and Jemaines. :)
