'Flight of the Conchords' vs a real New Zealand Consulate

I came across this in my web wanderings and thought is was worth a look

I love that the real consulate is in the same building as 'True Value Hardware' (at least it isn't 'Escot Sausage Casings'!) and that the consul is only part-time. Canapes are also mentioned - cheese anyone?! :lol:

How curious! I thought you would have had to have been a NZ citizen to work there.

Thanks for posting this, Great H. I'm so glad that the author was proactive enough to get this scoop.

Living in Chicago, I had already looked into the possibility of checking out some travel material from the consulate but upon my cursory research found that consulates only existed in NYC and LA. Now that I know an honorary consul does exist in my neck of the woods, I'll make a point of dropping by. If anybody else wants to join, we can make a field trip of it!!! :lol:

From the looks of the map, it's closer to Chicago's O'Hare Airport - far away from all the other consulates which are located downtown.
